13. The art functions.

Art transforms reality affects consciousness and sensual world of men. It performs several functions that can be divided into two groups. The first are those that directly reflect the social significance of art. The second comprises the specific functions of art. In the first group traditionally distinguished the following functions:

1) Social and transformative . Art influences social being , stimulates the activity of the individual social and creates a new reality .

2) Cognitive- heuristic . Art is a means of understanding the world of self- identity .

3) Art and conceptual . Art embodies the concept , at which the artist reveals his ideas about the world , about the state of society , gives an estimate of events and phenomena .

4) The function of anticipation . Art can anticipate the future , to create pictures of possible developments in the future .

5) communicative function . Art is a means of communication between the artist and the viewer , reader, listener , between nations. It brings people together , allowing them to communicate regardless of the spatial and temporal boundaries , lying between them .

6) Information functions . Art contributes to a world of people, their moral guidelines and values.

7) inspires function. Art has a certain ideology .

14. The kinds of art.

In today's world , there are several kinds of art . Their classification is determined , according to Yu.Boreva aesthetic richness and diversity of reality, the richness of the spiritual world and the system of aesthetic ideals and values ​​of the artist , a variety of cultural traditions , artistic media and technical possibilities of art. In particular, scholars have identified : theater, literature , painting, drawing , architecture, sculpture , dance, music , circus, art photography , film, television , crafts and decorative arts .

15. Concept about an artistic image.

Artistic image is a category of aesthetics, which represents result of understanding and comprehension some appearance, process of reality in ways peculiar to literature by the writer. An artistic image is characterized by: 1. Concreteness supposing objectivity of artistic conceptions about phenomena, processes and facts of reality; 2. Metaphoric; 3. Associability; 4. Polysemantic; 5. Self-propelled; 6. Typification; 7. Self-sufficiency; 8. Originality, individuality, uniqueness. The term “image” often refers to an element or part of an artistic whole, generally a fragment that as it were possesses an independent life and content, for example, a literary character or a symbolic image such as the sail in M.Iu. Lermontov’s poem “The Sail”. In a more general sense, an artistic image is the very basis of a work of art from the viewpoint of the work’s expressiveness, intensity, and meaningfulness.

16. The classification of artistic images

The types of images.

-images of people (personages, types, heroes)

-images of nature (landscapes)

-images of animals (animalism)

-images of things

-images of scenery

In the modern literature an artistic image is divided into several kinds. Their classification is conditioned on complexity of given notion, its many-sidedness. By degree of generalization: class, national, world images; By a subject of picture: image-personage, landscape, animation, images-details; By the aim, value character and by content: positive, negative, humanistic, fantastic, epic, lyric, dramatic. In dependency on the degree of closeness to the phenomena of real actuality the artistic images are divided into realistic, conditional and abstract. An artistic image carries in it the creative fantasy of an author. Comprehending phenomena of reality the writer put his own sight, understanding, his own feelings and associations. He inputs his own imagination. Hence the artistic image contains the truth and fiction and also aesthetic significance.
