My Family
My name is Natalya Sedova, Natasha for short. My full name is Natalya Sergeyevna Sedova. Sedova is my surname, Natalya is my first name and Sergeyevna is my patronymic. I am a first year student of the Far-Eastern Academy of Public Service. I am going to be a manager. I am nearly eighteen.
Our family is rather large. I have a mother, a father, a sister, a brother, a grandmother and a grandfather.
We all, except my elder brother, live together in the centre of Khabarovsk. Our family has got a very comfortable four-room fiat on the second floor in a new block of flats. There is a living room, three bedrooms, a bathroom and a large kitchen in our flat.
My grandmother and grandfather are my mother's parents. My father calls them mother-in-law and father-in-law. My grandparents are not very old. My grandfather is 70 and my grandmother is 65. Though they are pensioners, they are still full of life and energy. They love their grandchildren dearly.
My mother is 47. He is a handsome man of medium height and strong build. He is a businessman. My father is a chief manager of the company. His office hours begin at 8:30. Every day he has much work to do in his office. He dictates letters, reads cables and receives visitors.
My mother is a very attractive woman of 45. She is two years younger than my father. My mother is a doctor. She works at a hospital. She has a lot of patients and does all she can to help them. My mother is very busy but she finds time to look after the house and to take care of all the family. Of course, we all help her.
My elder sister Kate is a pretty girl of 20. She is a secretary in an office. Kate can use a computer quite well. She often types business letters and sends faxes to different companies. Last year she fell in love with a young man. Max and Kate are getting married next month. We hope they will be happy in their marriage.
Our brother Alec is 25. He is the eldest of us three. Alec is a programmer at a research institute. He is married and has a family of his own. His wife Ann is my sister-in-law. She is an economist. They have two children, a son and a daughter. They are twins. I am their aunt. I am very fond of my little niece and nephew.
My mother has a brother. His name is Nick. He is three years her senior. He is an engineer at a factory. Uncle Nick has a wife and a daughter. Their daughter Helen is 17. She is just out of school. My cousin Helen is going to become a teacher. She thinks that teaching is the most interesting of all professions. As for me, I am eager to take up father's profession. They say, tastes differ, no doubt about it.
On Saturdays our relatives come to see us. We are glad to see each other. We sit together in our living room, watch television, share news and discuss family problems.
We are a very happy family.
