Teachers’ dress code*
The way you look can drastically influence the way you feel and the way you are treated by others. The choice of clothing for a teacher is very important. Teachers don't have a formal uniform, but their appearance really sends a message to children, their parents, and colleagues. On any given day, you may see administrators, volunteers, students and other visitors. You should always present a professional appearance - even if your dress code allows a casual wardrobe. Teachers are role models for their children. The more confident, friendly and smart you look at work - the better. Your clothes must be the right size, neat, comfortable and stylish at the same time. Don’t wear clothes with slogans on: it really doesn’t look professional. Too much make-up is not your friend. You should wear make-up that looks natural and choose accessories that aren’t flashy. You should also avoid trendy high- heeled shoes. It is not comfortable because you need to move around all the time and this will make your feet painful. Your daily life may include sick children, messy art projects and spilled milk. Make sure to buy easy-to-clean, darker-coloured fabrics in order not to ruin your clothes during the natural course of the day. In my eye, buying second-hand clothes is a fashion option for youngsters rather than respectful teachers. But what is more important – you need to find a look that shows off your individuality.
