10. Read the approximate annotation to the text and mind its structure.

These four texts are about four cities in different parts of the world. They give brief but interesting information for travellers.

Petra is an ancient city with temples and places cut out of the cliffs. It’s a place for several Hollywood films, such as Indiana Jones.

Las Vegas is one of the most exciting cities in the world especially for those who are interested in gambling. It’s a modern city with extravagant hotels and a large number of casinos.

Venice is one of the most romantic cities in the world, which is located on 118 islands and has a lot of canals and bridges. It’s the home for many famous paintings and sculptures.

Koh Samui is a tropical paradise, the second largest Ireland in Thailand after Phuket. It’s covered with coconut trees and brightly coloured flowers. The island is surrounded by white sandy beaches.

Besides every text has a viewer’s opinion about his impression from visiting a city.

11. A) What are the first three things which come into your mind when you hear the words 'England' or 'the English?

When I think of the English, I think of .........

b) There are a lot of stereotypes about people of different nationalities. Some of them are true, others are myths. Do you really know what the English are like? Read the following stereotypes about the English and discuss them with your group mates. Agree or disagree with them.
