1.Read and translate the text:

Agricultural education in Podillia is remarkable for its interesting historical background, as far as 1610 a collegium was founded in Vinnytsia. The collegium was converted into a province high school of Vinnytsia in 1814. A few agricultural schools and research stations were set up in the latter half of the XIX century. During the Soviet era a great number of specialized educational institutions were established on the territory of Vin­nytsia region in Bratslav, Verkhivka, Tulchyn, Illintsi, Komarhorod, Cherniatyn and other towns. However these institutions did not meet the demand of agriculture in skilled workers and employment in the rural areas. That is why the foundation of a higher agricultural educational institution was a particular focus of attention in 70s-80s of the XX century. The Vinnytsia State Agricultural University dated from 1978 when the Regional School of Agricultural Management was founded. The Vinnytsia affiliate of the Ukrainian Agricultural Academy was established on the basis of the school. After obtaining independence from the Academy in April 1991, the affiliate was renamed into the Vinnytsia State Ag­ricultural Institute and in a year it received the state accreditation. Associate Professors, Candidates of Science (PhDs) Borys Zrybniak and Anatoliy Lutsenko were the first presidents of the University. The honorary president, Professor Leonid Sereda and the above mentioned persons have made a very positive contribution to the training of specialists for agriculture of Vinnytsia region. In March 2000 the Vinnytsia State Agricultural University was established on the basis of the Vinnytsia State Agri­cultural Institute in accordance with the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. In 1997 four colleges and five technical schools were joined to the Institute as its structural subdivisions, according to the decision of the State Accreditation Commission as from June 9,1999 the institute acquired univer­sity status.
