Ex. 25 Rewrite the sentences using mixed conditionals

Examples: 1) He doesn’t know her. That’s why he didn’t speak to her. – If he knew her, he would have spoken to her.

2) He lost his job. He’s unemployed now. – If he hadn’t lost his job, he wouldn’t be unemployed now.

3) She didn't study hard. She won't pass the exams. – If she had studied hard, she would pass the exam.

1. His pet died. That’s why he’s unhappy now. 2. She doesn’t have a mobile phone. That’s why she couldn’t be contacted yesterday. 3. Tom didn’t see his boss earlier. He’s waiting for him now. 4. I lost my map. That’s why I’m asking for directions now. 5. She doesn’t speak French. She didn’t have a good time in Paris. 6. He lost the race. He is not a champion now. 7. She didn’t go to the bank yesterday, that’s why she hasn’t got any money now. 8. They went to a party last night, that’s why they are tired now. 9. I crashed my car. That’s why I’m taking the bus today.

Ex. 26 Rewrite the sentences using mixed conditionals

1. You didn't wake me up. Now I'm late for my appointment. 2. She isn't well-qualified. She didn't get the job. 3. We didn't go to the restaurant. We don't like fast food. 4. She didn't bring her umbrella. Now, she's getting wet. 5. I don't know them very well, so I didn't go to the party. 6. He isn't at the lecture because he wasn't told about it. 7. They didn't take a map with them. They're lost now. 8. The driver isn't careful. He crashed his car into a wall. 9. I didn't buy tickets. We can't go to the theatre tonight. 10. He didn't reserve a table. He has to wait for an hour. 11. Sue forgot to go to the bank. Now she can't go shopping. 12. They missed their flight. They won't arrive until tomorrow.
