The Most Important Events of Our Village

At the end of XIX village had 185 houses. There was a mill. The school was built in 1817.The children of prosperous peasants studied at that school. It had three forms. Otto Malets was a headmaster, landlord Aphanasiy, Rolentsova, Koshel`kovska. The western rural district of Volyn became a part of Poland. At that time Dym Liudoviy was built in 1936 by the means of people. The peasants the whole settlement gave ten coins for its building. The meetings of peasants dancing were held there. Later Dym Liudoviy was used as a school building. The documents about its building bricked up in a base of it. The events of the first world war were connected with our village. During the battles a wooden church was burnt which was built in 1783. That church had a stone-base. It had a parish-school. A new church was built in 1914. This church was kept to our days. At present the church is a monument of architecture. Since 1960 to 1983 the church was closed. Religious community often persecuted. The church was reestablished and was opened again in 1984. It is a cultural and ecclesiastical centre of the village. The priest of Lady Day Annunciation is M.Smol’archuk.

The Great Patriotic War brought to Volyn and our village incredible suffering and ruins. In April 1942 ten of young citizens took to Germany for forced labour. Nowadays 11 men former “ostrabaiters” are living in the village. These people suffered in the foreign country. The Hitlerites made the industrious Ukrainians as slaves and used their labour in agriculture farming, at the plants and factories. When Ukraine got its independence they received the moneyed compensation. But nobody will return the waste health and will never forget those suffering and tortures. The fascists annihilated 56 our countrymen and 23 our compatriots disappeared obscurity. Our compatriots Sus Adam Danylovych, Bihun Mykola Vasylovich were rewarded by orders and medals. In the forests UIA operated (Ukrainian Insurgent Army) under the leader Kyhtey Samostiynyk. The repressed members of Ukrainian Insurgent Army Voichyk Volodymyr Nykyphorovych and Kosyk Yosyp Phedorovych are living at present time. Both of them were sentenced to ten years and only in 1956 they were rehabilitated. Sus Vasyl Mykolayovych was repressed too, but he refused from rehabilitation, he didn’t know why he was sentenced to.

June 23 1997 was tragic day for our village. The hurricane rushed by the village, which brought ruins. One person died. After it our village was visited by president of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma. He gave an order to build a new three-strored-school and two houses for pensioners because they were ruined. This order was fulfiled in the nearest periods. Our school is situated in the centre of our village. There are flower-beds, where the pupils grow different flowers during there lessons in craft in front of our school. Behind it there is a big sport- ground where the schoolchildren have their lessons of Physical Training when the weather is fine. The pupils of our school have the opportunity to study at a beautiful school. There is a computer study. The ecological centre is unique place for pupils in our school. Our school is one of the best schools in our district. There are 540 pupils in our school.
