1. alone один, одинокий
She lives alone. He was sitting in the park alone. Please, leave me alone. Did he go on a trip alone? I don’t like to be at home alone.
2. voyage путешествие
A transatlantic voyage lasted a couple of month. Archaeology takes us on a voyage into the past. A voyage is a long journey by sea or in space.
3. a trip поездка, прогулка
A trip is a journey, especially a short one for pleasure or for a particular purpose.
4. a journey поездка, путешествие, путь
Our journey lasted three days. We are going on a journey next week. How was your journey? It was very exciting journey, wasn’ t it?
5. huge огромный, громадный.
The mountains there are huge. There is a huge difference between them. The building is huge and old. We saw a huge bird in the forest.
6. Entertain развлекаться, забавляться.
I don’t know these people. He entertained his guests with jokes and songs. How do you entertain yourself when you are on holiday? The best way to entertain yourself is listening to music I think.
7. sights достопримечательности
In any town and city you may see the places of interest, that are often visited by tourists, or sights. If you come to Edinburgh I/ll show you the sights. You should go to a sightseeing bureau to take information on possible routes to spend your holiday.
8. holiday – makers отдыхающие
People who are on holiday or vacation and who are absent from their work or study are considered to be holiday – makers. Crowds of holiday – makers are usually seen in resort areas, rest-homes, tourist camps and sanatoria. Which of the picturesque places in the world attracts most holiday – makers?

All the details about the time of arrivals and departures you may learn in an inquiry office.
10. boarding card проездной авиа/пассажирский билет
Boarding card is a card allowing a person to board a ship or plane. So people usually are allowed in a ship or plane only after they have shown their boarding cards.
11. to get one/ s destination добраться до пункта назначения
Destination is a place to which somebody or something is going or being sent. Tokyo was our final or ultimate destination. Our parents and relatives are always worried about the fact how safely we have arrived at our destination and they always ask to get them know that we have reached our destination safety.
12. to land, to arrive (oppositions: to depart, to take off, to leave for, to sail for) прибыть, приземлиться (отбыть, улететь, уехать, отплыть)
When a pilot tries to bring an aircraft down to the ground in a controlled way we say than he tries to land an airplane. And stewardesses who look after the passengers on an aircraft and who bring them meals think that landing is the process of coming down through the air and they always ask the passengers to fasten their safety-belts (seat belts) when the plane is landing. To arrive means to reach a place especially at the end of a journey. And we usually arrive home after our holidays, we arrive at the station after a long journey in a train, and we always enjoy our arrivals in a famous big city known all over the world and attracted crowds of holiday-makers. When we say that somebody departs we mean that he or she goes away or leaves his or her location starting a journey. We departed for (left for, sailed for) Athens at 10 a.m. The 10.15 to Leeds departs from platform 4 . I thought this a fitting moment to depart.
13. cabin crew члены экипажа
We usually call the crew members on an aircraft who attend to the passengers «cabin crew». What does the word «cabin» mean? It is the small room in a ship or the area for passengers in an aircraft. «Cabin cruiser» is a motor boat with sleeping accommodation, used for pleasure trips.
14. to check out оплатить счёт, багаж
«To check out» means to pay one/ s bill and leave a hotel. The phrase «To check something out» means to register something as having been borrowed: the book was checked out of the library in your name.
15. to check in регистрировать (багаж, пребывание чьё - либо, куда – либо)
«To check in» means to register as a guest at a hotel or as a passenger at an airport: Passenger should check in for flight BA 125 to Berlin. «To check something in» means to leave or accept something that is to be transported by train or by air: «Check in one/ s luggage!»
16. to book tickets заказать билеты
Book early if you want to be sure of a seat. I/ d like to book three hotel rooms and three seats on a plane. The hotel is fully booked. It is booked up and there are no more rooms available. We are booked on the next flight.
17. departure lounge комната ожидания в аэропорту
In an airport one who departs is sure to go through a departure lounge as it is a room for waiting in at an airport.
18. currency валюта
Currency is the system of money used in a country. Hard currency is represented with dollars or pounds, which can be exchanged easily for another because it is not likely to lose its value. That is why sellers prefer when people pay in hard currency.
19. a suitcase, luggage, baggage чемодан, багаж
A case with flat sides and a handle, used for carrying clothes when travelling is often called a suitcase, whereas any bags, cases containing somebody/ s belongings and taken on a journey are generally known to be luggage. And baggage is something packed in cases for travelling or in other words baggage is personal possessions packed in cases. Excess baggage is a baggage weighing more than the limit allowed on an aircraft.

Choosing where to go on holiday we often buy a small book or a magazine containing pictures and information about some places known to be popular with holiday-makers, and you are sure to find some advertisement guiding you what to choose.
21. travel agent турагент
A travel agent is a person or a firm whose job is making arrangements for people wishing to travel and those obtaining tickets or reserving hotel rooms. I arranged my trip through my local travel agent. Travel agency is a firm or an office of travel agents.
22. duty free необлагаемое пошлиной
Something that can be imported without payment of duty (taxes).
23. safety belt ремень безопасности
Safety belt (or in other words, a seat-belt) is a belt attached to a seat in an aircraft, a car worn by a passenger to avoid being thrown forward if an accident happens.
24. customs таможня
Here we usually deal with the taxes that must be paid to the government on goods brought in from other countries.
