ACTIVE	PASSIVE (III-я форма глагола или –ed форма)
Participle II= Past Participle (форма с окончанием -ed или III форма) - причастие прошедшего времени.
Не употребляется	1.в функции определения: а) перед существительным A broken cup разбитая чашка б)после существительного (определительный причастный оборот) The book taken from the library Книга, взятая из библиотеки, (=которую мы взяли) 2.обстоятельства 1.Written in pencil, the article was difficult to read. Так как статья была написана карандашом, ее трудно было читать. 2.Перед причастием могут стоять союзы if (если), when(когда), unless (если не) (в этом случае переводится на русский язык придаточными предложениями). When asked he answered at once. Когда его спросили, он тотчас же ответил.

Упражнения

I.Раскройте скобки, используя форму Participle I и предложения переведите.

1. II.Переведите.

1.When taking the decision I made a mistake. 2.While staying in London he met a few useful people. 3.Being tired (=As he was tired) he went home. 4.I turned back, not knowing where to go. 5.Hoping to catch the train, we took a taxi. 6.Having plenty of time we decided to walk to the station. 7.Being there, I could see all. 8.Being afraid of strangers, the children didn’t go with them. 9.John came in, carrying his suitcase. 10.Smiling he held out his hand. 11.He stood at the window, thinking of his future. 12. She sat by the window waiting for her guests. 13.I met my friends walking in the park. (нет запятой - определение) 14. He liked to rest in the evening walking slowly in the park.

III.Определите функцию причастий в предложениях, предложения переведите.

1.The house being built in our street is very good. 2.The telegram sent was signed by the director. 3.Having missed the train he spent the whole night at the station. (=As he had missed the train…) 4.The girl invited by my friend was charming. 5.Opening the window, he looked out of it. 6.Having arrived at the town, they went straight to the hotel. 7.Having translated the text, the student began to do the exercises. 8.Having done this work they went home. 9. Having been shown the wrong direction he lost his way. 10.The room furnished rather simply was large enough. 11. Having dressed he rushed out of the room. (=After he had dressed…) 12.Having lost the key, they couldn’t get in. (=As they had lost the key…) The telegram sent was signed by the director. 13.The doctor sent for lived in the next village.
