PAST PERFECT TENSE

Прошедшее завершенное время

Глагол в Past Perfect обозначает действие, которое закончилось до указанного момента в прошлом или предшествовало другому действию в прошлом. По смыслу эта форма представляет собой "предпрошедшее" время, так как она описывает уже совершенное прошедшее действие по отношению к моменту, также являющемуся прошедшим.

Past Perfect образуется при помощи вспомогательного глагола to have в форме прошедшего времени ( had ) и причастия прошедшего времени смыслового глагола - Past Participle (III-я форма или ed-форма).

Когда употребляется	пример
●действие совершено к определенно-му моменту в прошлом- «пред- прошедшее».	Father had returned home by midnight.
●момент, до которого совершилось действие, имеет конкретно указанное время: by two o’clock к двум часам; by noon к полудню; by Saturday к субботе; by the 15th of September к 15 сентября; by then к этому/тому времени; by that time к тому времени; by the end of the week (the year) к концу недели (года)	By six o'clock on Sunday I had already learned all the words. К шести часам в воскресенье я уже выучил все слова.
●в придаточных предложениях времени (с союзами: after после того как, as soon as как только, until (till) до тех пор пока… не, when когда и т.п.) для выражения будущего завершенного действия по отношению к прошлым событиям.	She said that she would go home as soon as she had passed all her exams. Она сказала, что поедет домой, как только сдаст все экзамены.
●при последовательных действиях в прошлом, когда ранее совершенное действие выражено глаголом в Past Perfect, более позднее в Past Indefinite	When we came to the station the train had already gone. Когда мы приехали на станцию, поезд уже ушел.
●в ситуациях или контексте высказы вания, когда событие, выраженное глаголом в Past Indefinite, по времени произошло после действия, выражен ного формой Past Perfect.	She thanked me for what I had done for her. Она поблагода рила меня за то, что я сделал для нее.
