Тема: Моя майбутня спеціальність. Кваліфікаційна характеристика спеціаліста.

Мета: Сформувати уміння застосовувати знання в комплексі.

3. Ознайомлення з кваліфікаційною характеристикою бухгалтера.

Skills and Qualifications Needed to Be an Accountant

If you want to become an accountant you will need to have a four year degree, Bachelor of Science, in accounting. You can get a two year degree but that will probably qualify you for positions such as a bookkeeper. After you receive your

degree you will probably have the option of going into public or private accounting. As an accountant there are a number of opportunities that are available to you. It all a matter of where you want to focus.

Numbers

As an accountant you must like to deal with numbers on a daily basis. The majority of your job will be numbers. You may have to post some journal entries, or construct an income statement or even a balance sheet. There are auditing functions that have to be performed depending on the area you choose to work. Perhaps you will have to do a cash flow analysis.

Analytical

As an accountant you need to be analytical. You may have to analyze certain discrepancies on a balance sheet or income statement.

Detail

Most accountants are detail oriented. Accountants have to compile a lot of figures to construct balance sheets and income statements. Having the ability to compile a lot of information and then interpret the meaning is something an accountant will have to do on a regular basis.

Computer skills

Accountants should have good computer skills that they have acquired over the course of their education and professional experience. Most of the work will be performed on a computer.

Math skills

Having good math skills are another skill that an accountant will have to utilize daily. This all goes back to having a love for numbers.

Communication skills

As an accountant you will need excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Sometimes you will be required to communicate with upper management as well as other employees within an organization.

You may want to continue your education by returning to college. After receiving your bachelor's of science in accountant the next step is becoming a Certified Public Accountant, (CPA). Another attribute of accountants is patience.
