5. Розвиток цукрового діабету можуть спровокувати вітряна віспа, кір, скарлатина, грип, ангіна.
6. Головну роль у розвитку цукрового діабету відіграє інсулінова недостатність, при якій порушуються всі види обміну речовин в організмі.
7. Тривалий високий рівень глюкози в крові веде до збільшення втрат глюкози з сечею (глікозурія).
8. У дітей цукровий діабет розвивається здебільшого раптово.
9. За короткий час з'являються всі симптоми цукрового діабету: полідипсія, поліурія, поліфагія, схуднення, сухість та свербіж шкіри і слизових оболонок, гіперглікемія, глікозурія. Цими симптомами він відрізняється від діабету дорослих, у яких хвороба розвивається поступово.
10. Найважчим ускладненням цукрового діабету є діабетична або гіперглікемічна кома, яка може розвинутися при несвоєчасному розпізнаванні початкових симптомів захворювання.
