2.5 Ml e.O. Immortelle

2.5 Ml V.O. Rose hip seed

5 Ml V.O. Hazelnut

Combine and use only 1 drop, or the smallest amount that will cover the scar, four to six times a day, every day. Results are usually visible in the first week or two. Tiny amounts repeated frequently are part of the key to success with scar tissue.

RADIATION

A.H. niaouli (Melaleuca quinquinervia CT viridiflorol)

Computer users should keep this by their desk. Spritz directly onto face, arms, and chest at regular intervals throughout the day; you can spray it right onto your clothing. Take regular breaks away from your computer screen. Anyone undergoing radiation treatment for cancer can use this hydrosol on all areas except the actual site of the cancer; it will not interfere with the treatment and will dramatically reduce tissue damage in the areas treated. Patients are always told not to apply anything to the skin before radiation treatments because some substances will increase the likelihood of burning and tissue damage. Niaouli hydrosol, totally invisible and nongreasy, will help prevent the burning and damage.

Reproductive System

The best general-tonic hydrosols for the reproductive system are sage, clary sage, rose, and St. John’s wort, but as in skin care, the applications are so many and varied that you must really look at what you need and what hydrosol will do the specific job best for you.

PMS

Women are affected by PMS in vastly different ways. Choose any three of the hydrosols listed and combine for your personal needs. The “synergy of three” hydrosols in combination works better than any single hydrosol, but use what you have in a pinch. Use both recipes together for best results.

A.H. clary sage (for mood and cramps)

A.H. rose (for mood and excess heat)

A.H. sage (for cramps and circulation/cold)

A.H. cypress (for water retention)

A.H. geranium (for balance)

A.H. St. John’s wort (for mood and insomnia and as a general tonic)

Take 10 ml of each of your three selected hydrosols (30 ml total), dilute in 1 liter of water, and drink throughout the day. If PMS is a regular phenomenon, start drinking your hydrosol blend three to five days before your period is due and continue until it is over. The same hydrosol blend may be used to compress the abdomen and lower back for pain relief.

¼ to ½ teaspoon V.O. evening primrose, borage seed, or rose hip seed

1 drop E.O. niaouli

Combine and take internally daily to balance the essential fatty acids in the body.

Although chocolate and sugar will suppress your immune system and are said to aggravate PMS, I find the occasional chocolate truffle flavored with essential oils works wonders!

MENOPAUSE

10 ml A.H. peppermint

10 ml A.H. sage

10 ml A.H. rose

To balance your hormones and your mood, dilute in 1 liter of water and drink throughout the day. Repeat daily for three weeks, take one week off, and repeat as required. It tastes a bit strange, so you may wish to alter the ratio to your preference, but again, the “synergy of three” adds a certain plus to the effects.

HOT FLASHES

1 part A.H. peppermint

1 part A.H. clary sage or rose geranium

Combine hydrosols in a spray bottle and keep on hand. Spritz directly on face, wrists, and back of neck when hot flashes occur.

There are many recipes for topical and internal essential-oil blends for menopause, but the simplest is to use Vitex agnus-castus, the chaste tree leaf or berry, oil. One drop taken daily is showing quite promising results in reducing the effects of menopause. Unfortunately, I have yet to find a hydrosol of Vitex.

FIBROIDS

All three treatments are to be used in conjunction.

Topical

5 ml E.O. immortelle

5 ml E.O lemon eucalyptus

5 ml E.O. cypress

20 ml V.O. foraha (Calophyllum inophyllum)

65 ml V.O. sesame

Apply two times a day to lower abdominal region and sacrum; repeat daily for three weeks.

Douche

20 ml A.H. rock rose

20 mlA.H. immortelle

Dilute in 50 ml distilled water and douche every morning.

Pessary

2 ml E.O. lemon eucalyptus

4 ml E.O. immortelle

5 ml E.O. geranium

6 ml E.O. rock rose

8 ml E.O. cypress

100 gm cocoa butter

A pessary is a vaginal suppository. Blend the five essential oils. Melt the cocoa butter over very low heat until it is only three-fourths melted. Remove from heat and swirl pot to melt the rest. Leave to sit for a moment. Lay out three sheets of waxed paper. If you cradle the waxed paper in a paper-towel tube cut in half lengthwise, it’s easier to form the roll. Now stir the oil blend into the cocoa butter, which should just be setting at the edges. Pour a third of the mixture slowly onto each sheet of the waxed paper and leave to harden. Store the wrapped pessaries in the freezer. Cut into one-inch pieces; you should get twenty-one pessaries from this amount of mixture, seven from each of the three rolls. Use one suppository every night for three weeks, then take a week off during menses.

I have seven clients who have “cured” their fibroids with this treatment. It takes anywhere from two to six cycles, depending on the individual, but it worked for all of them. A new medical treatment for fibroids involves injecting a chemical into the femoral artery, temporarily cutting off circulation to the uterus and the fibroids, which are then “passed” vaginally. The treatment requires hospitalization for twenty-four to thirty-six hours and is described as very painful. The aromatic treatment causes no pain and no excessive discharge, but I believe it works in a similar way owing to the pH and astringent, cicatrisant properties of the rock rose and the “dissolving” properties of some of the oils.

ENDOMETRIOSIS

Use both the douche and topical treatment together.

Douche

15 ml A.H. rock rose

15 ml A.H. rose

30 ml distilled water

Combine hydrosols and water and use as a douche every day between your periods.

Topical

1 part E.O. blend customized to client

1 part V.O. foraha (Calophyllum inophyllum)

1 part V.O. St. John’s wort maceration

A large number of oils can benefit endometriosis sufferers, beginning with classics like sage, clary sage, geranium, lavender, and rose. However, everyone experiences different symptoms. One client used wintergreen, niaouli, lemon eucalyptus, marjoram, blue tansy, and sage to ease the intense spasms and cutting pains she had from ovulation to menses. She based her blend on one for pain in childbirth. It is important, whatever oil blend is used in conjunction with the hydrosol douche, that both treatments be done regularly so results can be monitored and attributed to the correct remedy.

Endometriosis is a painful and potentially serious medical condition that can affect women from menarche to menopause. Current medical treatments include surgery (sometimes repeated), hormone therapies, promoting early onset of menopause, pregnancy (when appropriate), and the use of heavy painkilling medications. If you wish to use this or any other natural protocol, talk to your health professional, keep notes on what you do and the effects or benefits you feel, and don’t give up if it doesn’t work the first month. Valerie Worwood commenced a trial on endometriosis and aromatherapy several years ago, but fewer than 30 percent of the participants kept up the protocol, and so the results are inconclusive. The more real-life data that can be compiled, the more likely that scientific investigation will be instituted. This is one area where I would be very happy to see clinical trials take place.

THRUSH AND VAGINITIS

Use both treatments together.

Douche

15 ml A.H. rosemary CT verbenone

15 ml A.H. German chamomile

15 ml A.H. lavender

15 ml bay laurel

100 ml warm distilled water

Combine hydrosols and water and use as a douche two times a day. If the condition is severe, you may wish to douche with the hydrosols undiluted for the first two days, then add water for the remainder of the treatment. I have one client who used straight undiluted sandalwood hydrosol with great results, and you may wish to experiment with this.

Internal Treatment

1 teaspoon organic kefir or live yogurt

2 drops E.O. ti tree

Take a tampon (preferably of organic, unbleached cotton) and roll it in the yogurt–ti tree mix and insert. Replace the tampon every 2 to 3 hours for three to four days.

JOCK ITCH

A.H. German chamomile or witch hazel

Spritz all over the area and allow to air dry completely. Repeat two or three times a day as required.

Renal System

The best general-tonic hydrosols for the renal system are juniper berry, balsam fir, black spruce, peppermint, petitgrain, cypress, yarrow, sandalwood, and elder.
