Northern Ireland is one of the four countries of the United Kingdom. Situated in the northeast of the island of Ireland, it shares a border with the Republic of Ireland to the south and west. At the time of the 2001, its population is about 1,685,000, constituting about 3% of the population of the United Kingdom. There are substantial uplands in the Sperrin Mountains with extensive gold deposits, granite Mourne Mountains and basalt Antrim Plateau. None of the hills are especially high.

The whole of Northern Ireland has a temperate maritime climate, rather wetter in the west than the east, although cloud cover is persistent across the region. The weather is unpredictable at all times of the year.

In the last thirty years Ireland has been in the news almost daily because of the political problems, that have happened there.

Those who really know the Emerald Isle, as some people call Ireland, will tell you that it’s a great place if you are looking for beautiful countryside, fine architecture, a rich culture and friendly people. Culturally Ireland is a tresure chest and is famous as a home to some of the great writers of our time such as James Joyce, Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw and others. The country also has great musical tradition and has produced talents like U2, Van Morrison and the Dubliners.

Famous for its friendly people, great beers and pubs, Ireland is a paradise to all who enjoy the good things in life. Go there – you will not be disappointed!
