Card 3 Let’s talk about family relationships.
What is family for you? ………………………… See CARD I question 1
Are there any things that you do with your parents together?
Yes, there are. As we are a family we start our day together. We have breakfast at the same time and share our plans for a day. We enjoy spending our weekends together. If the weather is nice it can be a picnic in the country or a short journey somewhere. I like learning something from my parents. So my mum usually teaches me to cook our favourite food (my dad teaches me to fix our car…)
Whatever we do it’s a pleasure just to communicate with each other as on week days we don’t have enough time for that.
What will you ask your British friend about his/her family relationships?
Do you get on well with your parents? Do you ask your parents for advice if you need it? What relationships do you have with your grandparents? What do you have in common with your siblings? How often do your extended family get together?
What can you advise people who want to have a good relationship with their parents?
If you want to have a good relationship with their parents, you should learn to respect them,
listen to their opinion. I think patience is very important when you communicate with any people especially with the close ones.
They say that parents and children have difficulties understanding each other because of
the generation gap. What do you think of this problem?
There are eternal problems, which always harass humanity. One of them is the generation gap. All spheres of life undergo inevitable changes. But the essence of incomprehension and quarrels between parents and children are the same for all times. We usually argue about hair and clothes style, the amount of pocket money and the time of coming home. Parents teach us to follow common standards of behaviour. I think all our squabbles with parents can be explained as a natural biological process, which helps us begin our own lives. And when we try to understand each other, we are able to solve all our problems.

Card 4 Let’s talk about friendship and relationship with friends.
What role do friends play in your life?
Everybody has friends, because every person needs communication and contacts. I think that friendship is a gift from the God. The most important feeling that exists between friends is trust. Respect and tolerance are also very important.
And I’m really lucky to have close friends. We enjoy doing sports, listening to music and just chatting when we have free time. I think friends make our life interesting and enjoyable.
Can you rely on your best friend? Why (not)?
Yes, I can. My best friend is a person who helps me at any time, who supports me and who I hope will never betray me. And these are not just words. Sometimes I get into trouble and it is my friend who often gives me good advice or just support.
What questions do you usually ask when you want to get acquainted with someone?
What is your hobby? Are you interested in sport? Do you like travelling? What books do you like to read? Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
What can you advise a teenager who has no friends?
In my opinion if a person has no friends it means he isn’t friendly himself. I think he should learn to be friendly and try to understand other people and not just criticize them.
It’s a good idea to join some sports or any other clubs, to take part in volunteering activities. When people do something together they often become friends.
Nowadays people prefer to have much money than many friends. What do you think about it?
We live in a material world so it’s nice to have enough money as it gives us a lot of opportunities. Though at any time there have been things that people couldn’t buy for any money. You can buy books but you can’t buy wisdom, you can buy a house, but you can’t buy home, you can pay for entertainment, but it will not make you happy. And, of course, friendship is among those things that you can’t buy. Without friendship people feel lonely.
