It’s a joke
Simon When are you two getting married?
Mr. Hunt Don't be silly, Simon. They've only known each other for two weeks.
Simon Sorry. It was only a joke.
Mr. Hunt I think it's time we left.
Sheila Thanks for everything.
Mrs. Hunt We wish you were going to Scotland with us.
Sheila So do I. Thanks again. Good-bye.
Mr. Hunt Good-bye. We'll be watching from the quay.

Harry Do you smoke. Bob?

Harry Do you drink?
Bob No, not now. I used to drink. I'm married now and I have four children. I can't afford to drink and my wife won't allow me to smoke.

Dear Judy,
Thank you for your letter.
I'll be working in London during February. Can we see each other then? I'll be staying at the same hotel as before. It's time we met again. Don't you agree?
I wish I had time to write more. I promise to write again soon.
Love,
Tom

1 A sad day for Sheila.
2 I used to like going home.
. . . Не used to visit me very often.
Не used to smoke a pipe.
3 I wish I weren't going home.
a I wish - букв.
I wish I weren't going home.
I wish I could buy this watch.
I wish I weren't so old.
I wish I were younger. -
б I weren't обратите внимание на форму глагола to be.
I wish I could buy.
I wish I had six weeks' holiday.
I wish I were with you.
I wish he were with me.
I wish you were with me.
4 I used to think that three weeks was plenty of time for a holiday.
a I used to think. Глагол to think
Peter thinks we'll get some good bargains.
Don't you think it's smart?
б plenty of time - букв, много времени, полно времени.
5 Now I wish I had six weeks.
6 We are at Dover because I'll be going back by boat.
б to go by boat - ехать пароходом, морем
7 The Hunts have come to see me off.
to see somebody off - проводить кого-то (на вокзал, в аэропорт, и т.п.)
