Вы уже знаете глагол to phone - звонить по телефону. То ring значит тоже самое и
имеет несколько разговорный оттенок.

rang - звонил - форма простого прошедшего времени от глагола to ring.
В этом уроке вам встретился целый ряд глаголов в форме простого прошедшего
времени: went (to go), visited (to visit), walked (to walk), wanted (to want), arrived (to arrive), loved (to love), liked (to like), enjoyed (to enjoy), stayed (to stay), rang (to ring).
По способу образования эти формы явно распадаются на две группы: i) правильные глаголы, т.е. такие, которые образованы путем прибавления суффикса -ed (visited, walked, wanted, enjoyed, stayed). Если глагол оканчивается на -е в инфинитиве (to love, to like, to arrive), то для образования прошедшего прибавляется суффикс -d (loved, liked, arrived); и ii) неправильные глаголы, имеющие особую форму: went, rang (ср. прим. 29, урок 9).

в please - пожалуйста. Обратите внимание, что в английском предложении есть слово please. В русском языке пожалуйста не сочетается с оборотом я бы хотел (I'd like), поэтому в русском переводе это слово пришлось опустить.

I'm not hungry either. - Я тоже не голодна. (См. прим. 8 к этому уроку.) Если вы хотите вместо полного предложения I'm not hungry either дать краткий ответ, замените not... either на одно слово neither и за ним поставьте вспомогательный глагол и местоимение-подлежащее: Neither am I.

Краткий вариант утвердительной формы строится так же, как и отрицательной (см. предыдущее примечание), но вместо слова neither ставится слово so:

A fresh green salad - букв. свежий зеленый салат. Как и русское слово салат, английское salad имеет два значения:
а - овощное растение, листья которого идут в пищу;
б - холодное кушанье из нарезанных кусочками овощей, яиц, мяса и т.п. с какой-нибудь приправой.
В уроке 5 вам встречалось слово salad во втором значении. В первом значении слово salad употребляется с прилагательными fresh green. Неопределенный артикль а перед словом salad показывает, что имеется в виду порция салата (ср. a lemonade, a beer, и т.п.).

to enjoy - получать удовольствие от чего-либо, наслаждаться чем-то.
После глагола to enjoy следует прямое дополнение: I enjoyed the book. - Я получил большое удовольствие от этой книги. Не enjoyed the play. - Ему очень понравилась пьеса.
I adore musicals. Я обожаю оперетту.
Глаголы to like, to love, to adore выражают одни и те же эмоции, но передают их во все возрастающей степени:
I like football. - Мне нравится футбол.
I love football. - Я люблю футбол.
I adore football. - Я обожаю футбол.
