Being a teenager

priority — пріоритет, першочергове значення;

Being a teenager isn’t easy; it’s a time of conflicting feelings and desires. At home you want your parents to treat you like an adult, but you still depend on them for money, food and practical help. It’s also a time when friendship can be unstable.

It is the difference between your and your parents’ priorities that makes family life more difficult when you are in your teens. Many parents don’t worry too much about their child’s social life. They only emphasize the importance of doing well at school.

You know that they may be right that you have to have a good qualification to have a good job. You want to go out and have fun, have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, maybe start serious relations. At the same time your parents want you to help them more at home.

Try to combine your school work, social life, relationships and hobbies. Living with your parents won’t last forever. So while you are with them enjoy having a fridge full of food and your laundry done. And remember, being a teenager lasts only a few years, nevertheless sweet ones.
