Altai State Agrarian University was founded in 1943. The University trains specialists for our agriculture. The university has several buildings.

There are two forms of training in the University: full-time and extramural. Classes begin in September and are over in June. Students study in 2 shifts.

The academic year is divided in 2 terms. After a term students pass exams and credit tests. Students have vacations in winter and in summer. Students also have their practical training on different farms in the Altai Territory. Students study different subjects.

The University has some faculties, for example: the Agronomy faculty, the Economy faculty, the Engineering faculty.

The Rector heads the university. Every faculty is headed by the dean. There are many departments at the University.

The University has some hostels, several libraries, a publishing house, a students' club, a skiing lodge, gymnasiums, and an assembly hall.

My University

Altai State Agrarian University is one of higher educational establishments in Barnaul. It was founded in 1943 on the base of St. Petersburg Agrarian University.

It has several academic buildings; the main one is in Krasnoarmeisky Avenue.

The university has several faculties, for example: the Agronomy, the Engineering, and the Veterinary faculties. It also has the Centre of the supplementary professional education and vocational guidance, the Center of Liberal Arts education, and the Faculty of extramural education.

When pupils are going to leave school they pass unified state examinations. If the results of the exams are good enough they may enter the university.

There are two types of training at the university: full-time and extramural. Full-time students study 4 years to get the Bachelor’s degree. Then after another two years of studies students may get the Master’s degree. There is also a post-graduate course at the university; post-graduate students study 3 years to become a Doctor of science. The post-graduate students have all the facilities to conduct their research works under the supervision of their scientific advisers.

Lectures are given and classes are conducted by highly qualified professors and teachers. The curriculum contains all the subjects that are necessary for the training of highly skilled specialists. Students study general and special subjects and have practical work. They also have vacations twice a year.

The students of the university may go in for sports and amateur art activities. There are different scientific study groups at the university. The university is a member of the construction team movement. Every summer the construction teams of the university go to different parts of the country to work and take part in different cultural events.
