2) Translate the following words, having the same root.

Exercise 6. Give the English equivalents for the following words and word combinations. Make up sentences using them.

Exercise 8. 1) Translate the sentences. Pay attention to the synonyms: injury, harm, hurt, damage, wound.

1. Two people were killed and seven were injured, some of them seriously, when the car hit the bus. 2. I hope I didn’t hurt her feelings. 3. He can’t play today because he’s injured his knee. 4. Exercise 9. Translate the sentences. Pay attention to the words having the root “care”.

Exercise 12. Translate the following sentences.

1. Пожежний рукав – це гнучкий шланг, що використовується пожежниками. 2. Пожежні рукави транспортують воду під тиском від джерела подачі до місця пожежі. 3. Пожежний рукав витримує відносно високий тиск. 4. Найпоширеніші механічні пошкодження – зношені місця, розтрощені або пошкоджені з’єднання. 5. Рукава класифікують за розміром (діаметром) тa матеріалом, з якого вони виготовляються. 6. Пожежний рукав не можна використовувати не за призначенням. 7. Пожежний рукав повинен бути гнучким, водонепроникним, мати гладку обшивку та міцне покриття. 8. Багато рідин та газів містять хімічні інгредієнти, які шкодять рукавам. 9. Необхідно захищати рукава від механічних пошкоджень, тепла, надмірного тиску, плісняви. 10. Після використання необхідно ретельно очистити рукав.
