The Goat

Sometimes in the village you can see an animal as big as a dog with horns on its head. This is a goat.

The goat is a very useful animal. It gives milk to people. From goat’s milk people make butter and cheese, too.

The goats are strong. They like to run and jump. They also can climb high hills. The goats like to fight. They often butt each other with their horns.

The goats feed on many kinds of plants. When they get into a vegetable garden, they may cause great harm, because they can eat cabbage and other vegetables. That is why farmers usually tie goats to the sticks pounded into the ground.

Baby goats are called kids.
