An English Farm
Mr. Jackson’s son, David Jackson, is an English farmer. His farm is situated 5 kilometres from the village of Knightshouse. David Jackson lives on the farm with his wife Rachel and his children Christine and William.
On the farm there is a big house, a garage, a cowshed, a barn, a pigsty, a stable, a poultry yard and a hothouse. In the garage Mr. Jackson keeps a car, a lorry, a tractor and other agricultural machines. In the cowshed he keeps 12 cows. In Mr. Jackson’s stable there are 4 horses. In the pigsty he keeps many pigs. In the poultry yard he has many hens, ducks, geese and turkeys.
In the farm yard there is a well. Mr. Jackson pumps water from the well with a help of a pump.
Near the house there is an orchard and a kitchen garden.
Behind the house there is a field. In the field Mr. Jackson grows wheat, maize, potato, sugar beet and sunflowers. Near the river Mr. Jackson has a pasture. The pasture is enclosed with a fence.

Near the house Mr. Jackson has a garage and a tool shed. In the garage he keeps a car, a lorry, a tractor and other agricultural machines. There are a workbench, a lathe, a boring machine and shelves with tools there, too. On the shelves Mr. Jackson keeps an electric drill, hammers, wrenches, bolts, nuts, screwdrivers, screws and nails. He keeps brushes and paints there, too. Besides, Mr. Jackson keeps spare tires, batteries, patrol tankers and oil cans in the garage.
But the garden tools are kept in the tool shed. Mr. Jackson has spades, rakes, hoes, a hose, watering cans, a sprinkler and even a lawn mower.
William likes to help his father to repair the car and agricultural machines. He hands him wrenches, screw drivers or bolts. He also helps his father to repair the house. In summer they paste wall papers in the rooms, paint the windows and the porch, mend the roof and the fence.
William can drive in nails and saw and plane planks very well.
