ten past eight |
quarter past one |
half past three
|
nine o’clock |
five to seven |
ten to eleven |
quarter to seven |

twelve o’clock |
2 Sometimes we use he figures only. Say the figures in the order you see them.
2.05 two oh five 8.10 eight ten
|
1.15 one fifteen 3.30 three thirty
|
6.55 six fifty-five 10.50 ten fifty |

With this form, we often say a.m. for the morning and p.m. for the afternoon and evening.
e.g. The office closes at 5.30 p.m.
Breakfast is served between 7 and 9 a.m.
3 In Britain and the USA, we usually use the 24-hour lock only to talk about travel timetables.
