4 The foreign policy of the European Union

• Проблема: The history of European integration makes it clear that the European Economic Community/European Union (EEC/EU) has always struggled to acquire a substantial external dimension. What are the instruments the EC/EU has set up to deal with different parts of the world? What are the main objectives that the EU wants to pursue in other areas of the world? How have they changed over the years? Is it possible to say that there has been a shift of attention by the EU in its foreign policy, from economic issues to political ones.

• Идея проекта: The direction of the EU foreign policy within the EU.

• Цель проекта: Consideration of the basic principles, forms and directions of foreign policy of the European Union.

• Задачи проекта:

• Review the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the European Union.

• The definition of a new international status of the EU in a profound transformation of the modern world order.

• Analysis of foreign policy of EU.

• Использование в процессе проектной работы компетенций и субкомпетенции: socio-cultural competence, information-retrieval, analytical and predictive.

• Возможные варианты решения поставленной проблемы:

1. To enhance the status of the ‘Joint Consultation Meetings’ (JCMs), which allow a designated group of Members of the European Parliament.

2. The EU should focus particularly on building regional security in its neighborhood: the Balkans, the Caucasus, the Mediterranean region, and the Middle East.

3. The EU should seek the construction of a rules-based, multilateral world order in which international law, peace, and security are ensured by strong regional and global institutions.
