US foreign policy after the Cold War
Проблема: Never in history has a country dominated the international scene to the extent that the US does today. Since 1990 it has been involved inresolving conflicts on every continent. There is no significant threat to the US (apart from terrorism) it has had toconfront a number of difficult issues in the post-Cold War world. How is the US torelate to a world that is no longer bipolar (i.e. dominated by the two superpowers, the US and the Soviet Union) but increasingly complex? How is the US to meet the new security threats, including terrorism?
Идея проекта: The direction of US foreign policy within the US.
Цель проекта: Consideration of the basic principles, forms and directions of foreign policy of the United States.
Задачи проекта:
Review the main directions and priorities of U.S. foreign policy.
The definition of a new international status of the U.S.in a profound transformation of the modern world order.
Analysis of major U.S. foreign policy doctrines.
Использование в процессе проектной работы компетенций и субкомпетенции:socio-cultural competence, information-retrieval, analytical and predictive.
Возможные варианты решения поставленной проблемы:
Focus on the most important objectives without neglecting key aims that are
also important to American interests.
Regardless of the need to give development issues more attention and priority at the Cabinet level, creating a new department is at best a partial solution and will not end the lack of coordination and direction in US foreign operations.
Setting up a new National Security Council staff directorate to coordinate foreignassistance and international programs would link all foreign assistance programs (across the entire US government) and operations of the international affairs agencies to White House policy deliberations.
