The government led the anti 4x4 movement with higher taxes on gas guzzlers and that helped kill their sales - now labour want to bail them out? Can someone explain this to us?

Gordon Johnson, Birmingham, UK

Is it a case of the Government supporting their favourite car firm. Jaguar and Land Rover are up market over priced manufacturers surely if they sold their cars at a reasonable price their fortunes would turn

If Tata are short of cash, why are they thinking of funding Italian Ferrari's F1 Team?

Paramjit Bahia, Southampton, Hampshire

How about we pull our troops out of Iraq / Afghan, saving lives and billions of pounds!! Inject it back into our own failing economy...

Keith, worcestershire, UK

Ric, why would Indian govt give money to Tata? They are not making in losses... Tata can just sack everyone in UK and start production in India. That will make them a hugh profit and they can blame UK govt for job loses. Either ways its a loss to british.

Yo, Mumbai,

Denis Dowen, you miss the point, entirely. The Germans own BMW and although Mercedes is owned by Daimler Chrysler. it's headquarters are in Stuttgart, so it could arguably be called German. Tata group own Jaguar, with headquarters in Mumbai. Nothing to do with the U.K. Wakey, wakey!

I think I paid too much for my house. I'm now in financial difficulties as a result of the credit crunch. I could become unemployed. Could I have 1/15000 of the proposed loan to bail me out? P.S. I'm also Britsh and not owned by a foreign company will this help me?

Matthew, Horhasm, United Kingdom

Perhaps the British goverment could match penny for penny what the Indian Goverment is going to give Tata to help an Indian car and steel making company which is currently operating in Britain. This could save the British Tax payer £500 million. Charity begins at home.

Ric, Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire
