IV. Retell the following paragraph, after the second sentence, in indirect speech:

Farster looked about him. He was alone on a dark, cold railway platform. "Where am I? He thought. This is Nassenheide, isn't it? Or have I left the train at the wrong station? No, I haven't. There in the dim lamp-light, I can see the sighn: Nassenheide. Then why is there no one to meet me? Surely they must have had my telegram: How can they leave me to find my own way, with all my luggage, in this pitch darkness and driving rain? Well, I will put my suitcases in the waiting-room, and walk. But where shall I walk to? I remember now. They wrote to tell me the house up to hill about a mile from the station. Even then, I can't believe they expected me to find my way to a strange house on a night like this".

V. Translate into English:

The Passive Voice.

I. Use the Passive Voice in the following sentences. Remember that only one Passive Construction is possible with these verbs.

E.G. The rule was explained to me.

1. They will dictate the telegram to her over the telephone. 2. They repeated the same thing to him several times. 3. Among other things he mentioned to me this was the most interesting fact. 4. Did they explain the difficulty to you? 5. They described to us life in that out-of-way place.
