The Compound Sentence
Сложно-сочиненное предложение состоит из равноправных простых предложений, не зависящих друг от друга. Простые предложения, входящие в состав сложно-сочиненного предложения, соединяются сочинительными союзами. Они обычно отделяются запятой:
The signal was given, and the Сигнал был дан, и пароход медленно
steamer moved slowly from the dock. отшел от прстани

Два или несколько простых предложений, как и в русском языке, могут соединяться в сложно-сочиненное предложение и без союзов. В этом случае между простыми предложениями можно по смыслу вставить союз and и, а. Между предложениями, входящими в состав бессоюзного сложно-сочиненного предложения, ставиться точка с запятой:
The signal was given; the Сигнал был дан; пароход медленно
steamer moved slowly from the dock. отошел от пристани
He will return from Astana in June; Он возвратился из Астаны в июне;
his sister will stay there another его сестра пробудет там еще месяц

GERUND
Герундий – это неличная форма глагола, выражающая процесс действия и совмещающая в себе свойства глагола и существительного.
Герундий образуется от инфинитива (без частицы to) с помощью суффикса – ing и совпадает по форме с причастием Ι.
В русском языке герундия нет.
