The Simpsons

The Simpsons is about a crazy American family who live in a town called Springfield. Homer Simpson is the father. He works at a nuclear power plant (though we usually see him sleeping or eating doughnuts at his desk there). He’s loveable but not very intelligent. Homer’s wife, Marge, is patient and devoted and she speaks with a really squeaky, funny voice. Their eldest child, Bart, is constantly doing naughty things. He takes after his father and is always falling tests at school. His younger sister, Lisa, is the genius of the family. She also plays the saxophone very loudly. The youngest child, Maggie, is a baby who always has a dummy in her mouth and makes sucking noises throughout the show.

There are lots of other brilliant characters who live in Springfield. There are Marge’s twin sisters who hate Homer; the principal of Springfield School, Seymour Skinner, whose life is made miserable by Bart; and Apu and Sanjay, two Asian Americans who run the Kwik-E-Mart.

The Simpsons is very funny and is one of the best cartoon series on TV. It is very popular and there are many Simpsons t-shirts, toys and videos in the shops. The humour is really intelligent, and it makes lots of jokes about our society.
