Упражнение 2. Вставьте в пропуски слова much/many/few/little.

Упражнение 3. Повторение с элементами нового. Поработаем со словами ‘few’ и ‘little’. Дело в том, что, если перед таким словом поставить неопределенный артикль, то значение его изменится.

few/little – мало (недостаточно)

a few/ a little – немного (достаточно)

Переведите на английский язык следующие сочетания. Не забудьте, что few употребляется с исчисляемыми существительными, а little – с неисчисляемыми.

Упражнение 4. Прочитайте и переведите рассказ, а затем расскажите о своей семье.

My name is Julia. I am 18. According to modern standards my family is small. We are three: Mum, Dad and me.

My Dad is a lawyer. He is 45. He works at an office. He is a very experienced specialist and his colleagues respect him. He is very attractive and looks younger than he is. He is a kind man though sometimes he is too strict to us, to my mind. He has a good sense of humour. He is fond of fishing. Sometimes he goes fishing in winter. Like many other men he is a football and hockey fan. He’s got a car and enjoys driving. In summer we all go to the seaside by car.

Mum is 40. She is a teacher. She is a very busy woman and always has so much work to do. Mum is kind and understanding. Sometimes it is not very good because she just can’t be tough enough when it is needed. It goes without saying that I love my parents and think that they are the best people in the world.

As for me, I am a student. I study at Ufa State Academy of Economics and Service to become a manager of tourism. I am in the second year. I am very sociable and have got many friends. My favourite occupation is reading books and writing poems. I like going to the theatre and cinema. I am inclined to watching too much TV. I think it’s a common problem for all young people. I think I should find myself a part-time job to fill my time with some sense.

Our family are animal lovers. We have got a cat and two dogs. The cat is black. He is 6 years old. He is calm and kind. Our dogs are young and friendly to people. They are so cute and smart! Our animals are very good friends. Together with the cat they can play all day long. We all live in a block of flats, so we have to take our dogs for a long walk in the evening. But I think it does good to both dogs and people.
