MORNING EXERCISES

PHYSICAL EXERCISES

(Below are given some physical exercises that can be done with all the children in the classroom. The teacher chooses exercises in any succession that suits him and his/her pupils best. Introducing the words by showing the corresponding actions.)

Stand up, stand straight, stand still, stand in line;

Bend forward, bend sideways, bend left, bend right;

Turn left, turn right, turn around;

Bend your head, bend your knees, bend your arms;

Shake your head, nod your head, turn your head left(right), around;

Hands to the sides, hands sideways, hands on hips, hands up, hands down, hands on your head, hands on your shoulders, hands out;

Clap your hands, wave your hands, shake your hands;

Put your hand(s), finger(s) on your head, nose, shoulders etc.

Jump, hop: one, two, three; jump high, jump low;

jump slow(ly), jump quick(ly), fast;

Stand on your toes, stand on your knees, squat down;

March: one, two, three; stop; step: one, two, three;

Quickly, quick, fast, slow, slowly, high, low.

Ukrainian fairy-tale

The mitten

Characters:

Grandfather. Dog. Mouse. Frog. Hare. Fox. Wolf. Bear. Wild Boar. Narrator.

Narrator: There lived a Grandfather in the house near the forest. One day he took his dog and went to the forest. He walked on and on and lost his mitten. A Little Grey Mouse saw the mitten.

Mouse: What a beautiful warm mitten! I can live in it!

Narrator: So the Little Grey Mouse lives in the mitten. She is very happy. In some time a Frog sees a mitten.

Frog: Who lives in the mitten?

Mouse: I do. I am a Little Grey Mouse, and who are you?

Frog: I am a Green Frog. Let's live together.

Mouse: O.K. Come in!

Narrator: Here comes a Hare.

Hare: Who lives in the mitten?

Mouse: A Little Grey Mouse and a green Frog. And who are you?

Hare: I am a Hare. I can hop. Let me in.

Mouse: O.K. Come in!

Narrator: Here comes a Fox.

Fox: Who lives in the mitten?

Frog: A Little Grey Mouse, a Green Frog and a Hare, that Can Hop. And who are you?

Fox: I am a Fluffy Fox. Let me in!

Frog: Come in!

Narrator: A Big Wolf comes to the mitten.

Wolf: Who lives in the mitten?

Hare: A Little Grey Mouse, a Green Frog, a Hare, that Can Hop and a Fluffy Fox. And who are you?

Wolf: I am a Big Wolf. May I come in?

Hare: Yes, you may. Come in, please.

Narrator: Now five animals live in the mitten and here comes a Wild Boar.

Wild Boar: Who lives in the mitten?

Fox: A Little Grey Mouse, a Green Frog, a Hare, that Can Hop, a Fluffy Fox and a Big Wolf. And who are you?

Wild Boar: I am a Wild Boar. Let me in.

Fox: O.K. Come in!

Narrator: Now they are six. The mit­ten is too small for them all. But here comes a Bear.

Bear: Who lives in the mitten?

Wolf: Six of us: a Little Grey Mouse, a Green Frog, a Hare, that Can Hop, a Fluffy Fox, a Big Wolf and a Wild Boar. And who are you?

Bear: I am a Brown Bear. Let me in.

Wolf: You are too big and the mitten is too small.

Bear: I can sit here, near the entrance.

Wolf: O.K. Come in!

Narrator: Now seven animals live in the mitten. The mitten is too small and the animals are too big. By that time the Grandfather had started to look for his mit­ten and his Dog helped him. The Dog ran on and on and suddenly saw the mitten.

Dog: Woof-woof! Woof-woof!

Narrator: The animals saw the Dog and ran away. The Grandfather took his mitten and put it on his hand.
