Инфинитив (Infinitive)
Инфинитив – неличная форма глагола, сочетающая в себе свойства глагола и существительного. Обладая свойствами глагола, инфинитив имеет категорию относительного времени и залога, может иметь прямое дополнение и определяться наречием.
Существуют следующие основные формы инфинитива:

Инфинитив в функции определения переводится на русский язык определительным придаточным предложением, выражающим долженствование или будущее время:
Here is the article to be translated by to-morrow. Вот статья, которую нужно перевести к завтрашнему дню.
части сложного дополнения:
I saw him leave the room. Я видел, как он уходил из комнаты.
части сложного подлежащего:
He is said to know English well. Говорят, что он хорошо знает английский.
части составного глагольного сказуемого:
You must read a lot. Вы должны много читать.
обстоятельства цели и следствия:
I have come here to study. |
Я пришел сюда, чтобы заниматься. |
I was too tired to go there. |
Я слишком устала, чтобы идти туда. |
Инфинитив, употребляемый после слов the first, the last, переводится на русский зык глаголом в личной форме в том времени, в котором стоит глагол to be.
He was the last to read the text. Он был последним, кто прочитал текст.
