Степени сравнения прилагательных и наречий
Способ образования степеней сравнения прилагательных и наречий в английском языке зависит от количества слогов, из которых они состоят.
Имена прилагательные и наречия в английском языке имеют три степени сравнения:
положительную,
сравнительную,
превосходную.
Степени сравнения односложных прилагательных и наречий образуются путем прибавления суффиксов к прилагательным в положительной степени:
- в сравнительной степени прибавляется суффикс –er;
- в превосходной степени прибавляется суффикс –est;
Большинство двусложных и многосложные прилагательные образуют степени сравнения при помощи подстановки перед прилагательным в положительной степени специальных слов:
- в сравнительной степени:
more - более (от much/many),
less – менее (от little);
- в превосходной степени:
the most – наиболее (much/many),
the least – наименее (от little).
