  1. Main body breakfast and its importance

    1. What is breakfast?

First of all, let us define what breakfast is. The word breakfast is really two words,

'break' and 'fast'. 'Fast' is when you don't eat food, and all during the night you have been sleeping and not eating. Breakfast is the first meal taken after rising from a night's sleep, most often eaten in the early morning before undertaking the day's work.

Breakfast is regarded by many nutritionists as the most important meal of the day. It varies according to the culture of the country. For example, in Britain and the USA breakfasts often include complex carbohydrates which contain fibre, proteins, minerals, and vitamins, and provide a steady stream of glucose. Equally nutritious breakfasts are provided by salads and soups in Japan, or fish and bread in Norway. Ukrainian breakfast does not have special breakfast items like in the US. A typical breakfast for a person in the Ukraine would vary from city to city. People in villages usually eat a soup (similar to kulish). In cities we have hot oatmeal with cream and a little brown sugar or with milk. Generally, Ukrainians have hot tea, and possibly boiled buckwheat, oatmeal, fried potatoes, bread and butter, or fried eggs for breakfast.

In general breakfast foods often include a carbohydrate such as grains or cereals, fruit and/or vegetable, a protein food such as eggs, meat or fish, and a beverage such as tea, coffee or fruit juice. Coffee, tea, juice, breakfast cereals, pancakes, sausages, bacon, sweet breads, fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, mushrooms, black pudding, baked beans, muffins, crumpets and toast with butter or margarine and/or jam or marmalade are common examples of breakfast foods, though a large range of preparations and ingredients are associated with breakfast globally.

So, breakfast is when you break your fast by eating.

    1. Why is breakfast important?

My next step was researching what do nutritionists, physiologists and doctors think about this issue.

From early childhood we all hear from our mothers and pediatricians that breakfast is the main meal of the day. But they rarely explain us why it is so important.

So, why do we need to have our breakfast?

Web MD reported an interesting study that was done by the American Dietetic Association. The studies show that kids who eat a healthy breakfast have more concentration, eye-hand coordination and even better problem solving skills. Children who eat a healthy breakfast do better in all aspects of their school life from the classroom, to the playground.

Here are some reasons why taking the time to eat a morning meal will benefit us in the long run that are discovered by nutritionists and physiologists.

Hunger control Breakfast not only breaks your night fast, it helps you going through to lunch. By consuming slow-burning foods like whole grains and fruit, your body stays fuller for longer. If you just grab a doughnut or something else high in fat and carbs, the food energy will be gone within a few hours. Similarly, if you just fuel up on coffee with nothing in your stomach, your stomach will be grumbling by 10 a.m. Studies show that people who skip breakfast make up for those lost calories later in the day, and are more likely to snack too much.

Mega-metabolism When you eat breakfast, you are sending signals to your body and your metabolism to get working faster. If you skip your 8 a.m, cereal and juice, and just opt for an early lunch, your metabolism is still sleeping. Watch out for high sugar juices and cereals that will add to your caloric count without the added nutritional benefits. Even by having a small but healthy breakfast before starting your day will give your body the wake-up call it needs and contribute to a good fat-burning metabolism.

Feed your brain Your Mom really was right when she stopped you on your way out the door to school to enjoy a good, hearty breakfast. It’s not only kids that need a good breakfast to fuel their brains; adults do too. A big benefit of grabbing some grub in the morning is being more alert, having a better short-term memory, and thinking more clearly. If you have been skipping breakfast, you have probably noticed some early morning slip-ups at work. This can be easily remedied by giving your brain the glucose it needs to kick into gear in the morning.

Long term benefits By starting healthy breakfast habits at a young age and in your early adulthood, studies show you will be less likely to develop blood-sugar problems and high cholesterol as you get older. Eating first thing in the morning gives your body the food it needs to regulate your blood sugar level and keep it stable throughout the day. If it doesn’t detect food until midday, it is thrown off. Listen to your body and try to give it something healthy to digest before it gets too late in the day.

Really, according to research by the American Dietetic Association beginning your day with a hearty breakfast can seriously improve your health, spirit and even weight loss.

Studies conducted by nutritionist-experts have highlighted the importance of breakfast for us, pupils, proving that there are immense benefits of a good breakfast. Still, not many have taken it seriously and made breakfast a part of their daily diet. Unfortunately many of us have the tendency of skipping this morning meal. That’s why this Research draws attention to the importance of breakfast for children.

Did you know that eating a healthy breakfast can help you feel more alert, decrease your risk of obesity, maintain your weight, and increase the level of attention?

Studies show that kids who skip breakfast are late from school more often and miss more days of school than kids who eat a healthy breakfast every morning?

Yet despite all this evidence to the contrary, over 33 percent of individuals still think that skipping breakfast can help them to lose excess fat, when the harsh reality is: skipping breakfast can trigger weight gain!

A 1994 study for example revealed that the majority of children who avoid breakfast are twice as likely to become overweight when they are adults as children who regularly consume breakfast…

Skipping meals, especially breakfast, is not a good idea. Breakfast is one of the most important meals of the day that is why you need to eat it. Having breakfast can do a lot to the body.

Firstly, breakfast provides your body with energy to keep you active throughout the day. It can also help energize your muscles along with starting your brain right for the day. This is because the presence of glucose in the food will help provide your muscles enough energy that will last throughout the day. Instead of using cigarettes that you have traded with your green smoke coupon, eat a full breakfast.

Eating a full breakfast will help you lose weight, contrary to what other health-conscious people say. Studies have also shown that people who always skip breakfast tend to gain weight faster. Those who skip breakfast become hungry during the day and they tend to eat more than what they consume for breakfast and lunch altogether.

On the other hand, those who eat breakfast during mornings tend to consume less amount of food during lunch thereafter. This allows people to slowly reduce the amount of food they take in without knowing eat. And before you know it, you get the body you always wanted!

Think about when you eat each meal. Breakfast starts your day off, lunch is right in the middle of the day, and dinner is near the end of the day. They're all about the same distance apart, except from dinner to breakfast. The time between those two meals is the longest period of time you go without eating. If you eat lunch at around six in the evening, then eat breakfast at six in the morning, you've just gone twelve hours without food. That lack of food means a lack of energy, putting your body and mind in an inactive state. An inactive mind and body is perfect for sleeping, but once you wake up, you need energy. Eating breakfast replenishes your energy, making your body and mind more active. Skipping breakfast, however, leaves your body in an in

active state until lunch and makes you feel tired and sluggish. Not eating breakfast is also a bad way to try and lose weight. Your body's metabolism drops sharply while you sleep, because of the lack of energy. Until you eat again, your metabolism stays low, so skipping breakfast is more likely to cause you to gain weight, not lose it. Last but not least, a sugary breakfast such as donuts can do more harm than good. The sugar will give you a quick boost in energy, but that energy disappears in a few hours, leaving your body and mind without any fuel until lunch.

Researchers have shown that people who eat breakfast are more alert and do well than those who miss their breakfast. Breakfast not only helps to boost memory, but also improves retention. Missing breakfast regularly can leave us grumpy and feeling sluggish all day. People who eat breakfast tend to feel good all throughout the day. Breakfast not only kick starts your mornings, but also sets the mood for the rest of the day. So if you hate to feel grouchy all day, resort to a healthy breakfast.

No matter how tempted you may be to binge on a sugared doughnut or a slice of a leftover birthday cake, avoid eating anything that is high in sugar the first thing in the morning.  Doing so can slump your blood sugar levels during later hours of the day and get you craving for some sugary snacks to perk up your mood. It doesn’t matter how much rush you are in, always make sure you load your tummy with something that is tasty, nutritious and high on dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals.

Thus, a healthy and nutritious breakfast is the ultimate answer to a host of health complications, which is why breakfast is deemed as the most important meal of the day. And before you know it, you get the body you always wanted.

Nutritional experts have referred to breakfast as the most important meal of the day, citing studies that find that people who skip breakfast are disproportionately likely to have problems with concentration, metabolism, and weight.

Many people do not like to have breakfast. They wake up to find that they are already late for school or work. They are in super-hurry to reach in time. Not only these type of people feel lazy but they are also vulnerable to heart attacks!

As the latest scientific researches confirm, breakfast can help prevent strokes, heart attacks and sudden deaths.

From 6 a.m. to noon, there is high incidence of heart attack especially between 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Why is there a high chance of heart attack in morning hours? Well the answer is simple. Tiny elements in our blood, platelets, keep us from bleeding to death if we get a cut by clumping together to form a clot at the cut. If they clot inside an artery (especially coronary artery) we get a heart attack. It is in the morning when platelets are most activated and tend to form internal blood clots at a very high frequency. They mostly clump together mostly because of Cholesterol or plaque buildup in artery lining.

However, even having a light, low fat breakfast can prevent from causing this because it is very critical in modifying the morning platelet activation. Research states that low-fat or fat-free yogurt, orange juice, fruit, and a source of protein coming from yogurt or fat-free milk can be helpful. You can also use a simple plan to eat cereal, such as oatmeal or Bran Flakes, along with six ounces of grape juice or orange juice, and perhaps a piece of fruit.

Well, since it is proved that breakfast is very important, it is advised to never skip the breakfast (even if you do it in your car) to lead a healthy life.
