Методические рекомендации

1. Прежде, чем начать выполнение контрольной работы, внимательно прочитайте задание.

2. Следует повторить или выучить следующие разделы грамматики:

а) имя существительное, артикль, множественное число существительных;

б) имя прилагательное, степени сравнения прилагательных; количественные прилагательные: much, many, few, little;

в) спряжение глагола to be в активном залоге;

г) порядок построения вопросительного предложения, общие и специальные вопросы;

д) времена глаголов, простое неопределенное время (времена группы Indefinite или Simple)

При выполнении заданий рекомендуется использовать англо-русские словари, грамматические пособия, таблицы.

1. Имя существительное (The Noun)

1. Заполните пропуски артиклями, где это необходимо:

1. I shall go to ... theatre tonight. 2. He will leave ... Moscow in a week. 3. He will never learn ... English because he doesn't study well. 4. I shall borrow ... record-player and we shall listen to ... records. 5. I shall send you ... books. 6. Mary will go to ... country on ... Sunday. 7. I shall not phone him as I don't know his ... number. 8. If ... weather is fine, we shall sit outdoors.

2. Напишите подлежащее во множественном числе и произведите другие необходимые изменения:

1. Where is the box? It is on the floor. 2. There is a wide-screen cinema in our town. 3. There will be a hotel in this district. 4. There was a cafe near that park. 5. The mason works in this building. 6. This village is new. 7. The photograph \\as on the first page. 8. There was a photograph on the wall. 9. The leaf of the calendar was yellow. 10. The worker's wife was waiting for him near the mine (шахта) 11. A scientist works at this museum. 12. This garage is still in the same place. 13. That room has no furniture. 14. There is a woman in our delegation. 15. There was a young visitor in the museum. 16. There will be a beautiful park near our school. 17. There is a yellow leaf on the ground. 18. There was a woman an in the first room 19. There will be a delegation in the museum. 20. The life of the great man teaches us how to live and work.

3. Раскройте скобки и поставьте прилагательное в соответствующей степени сравнения (§ 13):

1. Modern London is (big) than London of the past centuries. 2. London is one of the (large) seaports in Europe. 3. You can/find (fine) theatres, cinemas and (good) concert halls and shops in the West End. 4. In a few years Moscow will be one of the (beautiful) cities of the world. 5 What is (big) city in the world? 6 The fight for peace is (important) thing now. 7. He tried to go (far) but he could not as he was very tired. 8. The Nile is (long) river in Africa. 9. Which is (poor) part of London? 10. Pete is the (good) football player in our group.

4. Заполните пропуски союзами as ... as, not so ... as, than (§ 101):

1 This book is better ... that one. 2. John is ... tall ... Pete. 3. New York is ... old ... London. 4. Is Russian ... difficult ... English? 5. Is it ... warm in spring ... in summer? 6. Is the West End ... unattractive .the East End. 7. Moscow is bigger ... Leningrad.
