Text My Studies at the Academy
Read the text and speak on the educational process at the Customs Academy.
I finished school in 2009. Now I am a 1st year (full-time) Law student of Rostov Branch of the Russian Customs Academy.
Rostov Branch of the Russian Customs Academy was founded in June 30, 1995. At present Rostov Branch of the Russian Customs Academy is a higher educational institution, which carries out training of specialists in Customs business. About 1000 students study here.
The Academy offers all opportunities for mastering vocational training programs for the following specialties: Customs Business, Economy and Management, Law (Jurisprudence).
The educational process includes fundamental applied mathematics and information technologies, professional use of personal computers, problems of the Customs policy of Russia, Customs business, economics and law. Training is performed by specialists - practice workers of customs institutions, professors, association professors and senior lecturers.
The best of our students and specialists take part in students' conferences and seminars, devoted to the problems of customs. The Academy also holds researches in co-operation with scientific centers of other branches (Moscow, Vladivostok, and St. Petersburg).
I am proud of being a student of the Customs Academy. I am entirely convinced that I have chosen the right way in life. I hope that the Academy will afford us to become skillful specialists. The knowledge I have already got, professionalism which I will gain during the years of work in Customs will help me to do as much as possible for my country.
I like studying at the Academy because it gives a lot of knowledge. There are many subjects necessary for acquiring our professional outlook. Especially I like studying Law, Computers, English, and Customs Control of Transported Goods.
Most of the work is not done in class but in our rooms, libraries or laboratories. There are many clubs and societies for any taste: Law, sporting, dramatic, etc. So many things happen at our Academy that it is impossible to see and all one would wish.
The Family Pattern
Family is very important for us. It gives us a sense of belonging and sense of tradition. Families give us strength and purpose. Our families show where we are. The things we need most deeply in our lives-love, communication, respect and good relationships- have their beginnings in the family.
Families serve many functions. They provide conditions in which children can be born and brought up. Families help educate their members. Parents teach their children values as well as daily skills. They also teach their common practices and customs. Such as respect for elders and celebrating holidays. But the most important job for a family is to give emotional support and security.
Generation Gap
Some people often talk about ‘generation gap’ – gap between the views of the younger generations of teenagers and the views of their parents. But talks about a generation gap are sometimes exaggerated.
When parents and teenagers argue, usually it is about simple things. The most common reason for their arguments is the teenagers’ attitude towards other family members. One more common reason is that parents want their children to help more about the house. The third most common basis for arguments is the quality of teenagers’ schoolwork.
Some other traditional disagreements are over such things as curfew, the friends with whom the young people spend their leisure time (peer pressure).
