Cleo Yes, I’m looking for a job.
Man Sit down. Have you filled in a card?
Cleo Yes, here you are.
Man So, Cleo, is it? What did you do in your last job?
Cleo I was a singer with a pop group.
Man Where was that?
Cleo In the Western Hotel.
Man Oh yes. And how much did you earn as a singer?
Cleo I got £80 a week.
Man And why did you leave?
Cleo Well, I wanted more money. The other people in the group got more than
me. I asked the manager for more money.
Man What did he say?
Cleo No. Then we had an argument and he fired me.
Man Oh I see. Where do you live, Cleo?
Cleo Well, that’s another problem. I lived at the hotel, When I worked with a
group.
Man Have you done anything else – I mean, before you became a singer?
Cleo Not much. After I left school I worked in a restaurant as a waitress for
about six months. Then I worked in an office for a few months, but I
didn’t like it. It was boring.
Man Well we haven’t any jobs as a pop singers, I’m afraid. What
qualification have you got?
Cleo I’ve got an A-level in History and five O-levels.
Man What subjects?
