The window of windows

Main concept in Windows is the window.

Any application in Windows is executed in the window, also in the window the different messages and inquiries are produced.

The window can occupy a part of the screen, it can be scaled on full screen, and also can be minimized and is placed on the panel of the tasks.

Besides it, the window can be active or inactive. One window can partially or completely close another etc.

Appearance of the window

At the left high corner are located an icon and header. They characterizes contents of the given window.

At the right high corner three buttons are located. The left button allows minimizing the window. The average button allows maximizing the window on full screen (and then restoring it up to the primary size). The right button allows closing the given window and to complete the task.

Active and inactive windows

On the screen there can be only one active window, all other windows, which are taking place in this moment on the screen, are inactive.

The active window is always output atop of others and all operations made in the given moment, concern to it. The header of active window is selected with bright colour, and inactive window headers with colorless text.

If the window of the given application is inactive, the application is executed in a background mode.

Work with window

Change of the window size

To change the size of the window, it is necessary to place the mouse on boundary of the window. If the given window accepts change of the size, the marker will be changed to arrows (). The arrows will show a possible direction. If you really want to change boundary of the window, it is necessary to drag it on a new place.

Moving of the window

To transfer the window it is enough to seize header of the window and to move it to the necessary place.

Scrolling of contents of the window

If contents of the window not "get" into the current sizes of the window, at the left and below there are scrolling bars.

Switching between Windows

One more conceptual feature of the Windows is the possibility at any moment to be switched in any window. If the window or slice of the window, interesting for you, is visible on the screen, it is enough to click the mouse in any place of this window. The application operating in this window here becomes active.

Other variant — to click on the button of the given window on the tasks panel.

If you need to be switched to other window, you can take advantage of a combination [Alt] + [Tab] to select the window, interesting for you.

THE MENU OF WINDOWS

The menu line

The line of the menu is usually located at once below header. To select one of choices, it is necessary to click on it with the mouse, thus the appropriate submenu will open.

The following conventions for use Windows menu are received:

• If the item of a submenu is written by colourless, the given option now is inaccessible, this choice is ignored;

• If near to the name of an item there is a triangle "►", at a choice of the given option the appropriate submenu will be shown;

• If near to the name of the item there are 3-dots"...", at a choice of the given option the appropriate dialog box (window of inquiry of parameters) will be opened;

• If near to the name of the item the combination of keys is indicated, this choice you can select directly with the given hot combination of keys;

• If near to the name of the item there is a symbol “”, it means, that the given option, is switched on. If you will select this choice, the mode will be switched off, and vice versa;

• If before the name of the item there is a big dot "", it means, that from several alternate modes the mode pointed by the given option is now switched on.

Besides it:

• The group of options with similar functions are usually separated by horizontal lines.

• All Windows-applications have two items of menu - Window (Окно) and Help (Справка).
