6. Arranging a presentation

You have been asked by a foreign company to give a presentation on your product / service at their premises. Write a brief letter thanking them for the invitation, and explaining:

  • what equipment you will need;

  • how you would like the room to be laid out;

  • how long you think the presentation will take;

  • anything else you think is relevant.

They have asked you to give the presentation on the morning of the 14th of next month. This would not be convenient for you, so suggest another time, and let them know what time you would prefer to arrive.

7. Are you stressed out?

Answer yes or no to the following questions. Decide which yes answers are likely to cause stress.

Do you often take work home with you or study for long hours at a time?

Do you have to travel a lot for work or study?

Do you get very nervous before examinations (both academic and medical)?

Are you patient when waiting in queues?

Do you normally show your feelings?

8. Reading and punctuation

One of the most popular ways of closing a presentation is with an authoritative quotation. Here is a very famous one written by John Ruskin. First punctuate it. Then practise reading it aloud.
