The Computer Center has been using is recognized expertise in supported computer learning to develop high-quality professional education and training courses for a wide range of students. The teaching programs are updated regularly and augmented with new courses to broaden their scope and increase their relevance.
The rapid growth of computer and information systems seems set to continue well in to the next decades. The Diploma course in Computer Science is currently available in the Center. However. to meet the increasing demand from commerce and industry in private and public sectors for graduates in Computer Programming, and to fill the gap in the proposed courses in this important area of specialization by other institutions, the existing Diploma course is developed to Bachelor of Science degree.
On completing this innovative degree, the student will have the knowledge and skills in computer and information systems and particularly in computer programming.
The main features of this B. Sc course are:
A. A total of 131 units is required for the Bachelor degree. The Unit is teaching measuring unit and it is equal to: one contact hour for a theoretical lecture or two contact hours for a practical (tutorial or laboratory). It is equivalent to the credit hour used internationally in many academic institution. This may be internationally covered within the time span of four academic years or 8 semesters.
B. The core curriculum carries a total of 11 units. the collateral requirements forms 21 units. In accordance with the university commitment to contribute in a modem higher education. the core curriculum course is devoted to the education of natural sciences. social sciences and humanities. All B Sc students are required to complete the core curriculum courses with a total of 11 teaching units distributed almost equally in the B Sc levels. These requirements are qualified in other teaching programs as university requirements.
C. The remaining 99 units are devoted to the computing requirements.
D. The program covers the main professional disciplines: programming language, computer science. software engineering. Computer system, information systems. Intelligent systems and multimedia systems, with emphasis on programming.
