Introduction
History
ANZ New Zealand is New Zealand’s largest financial services group with a market share of 39%. It is a subsidiary of Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited of Australia which was founded in 1835. ANZ New Zealand operated until 2012 under the legal entity ANZ National Bank Limited which was formed as part of the 2003 merger of ANZ and The National Bank of New Zealand. From late October 2012, the company was renamed ANZ Bank New Zealand as part of the merger of the ANZ and National Bank brands. ANZ New Zealand operates under a variety of different brands, such as ANZ, UDC Finance, EFTPOS New Zealand, Bonus Bonds and Direct Broking. It provides number financial services, including banking services, asset finance, investments and payment solutions.
Employees
Breadth and diversity of ANZ is reflected in our people. They employ around 9,000 people throughout New Zealand. Employees come from a wide range of backgrounds, skills and specialisations and we value the richness that diversity brings to our business.
ANZ has pretty big range of different types of employees, certainly the major part of them are with accountant and finance skills. Also, that organisation always needs to communicate with customers in order to provide their service that’s way there is a lot of workers in customer service. Moreover all, new technology is growing fast and ANZ is concerned as well so they need IT workers and system administrators. And all banks have their ATM machines ANZ certainly no exception so the organisation needs engineers who will serve those machines.

Staff strength and role of human resource in the company
The General Manager Human Resources is Felicity Evans. She is responsible for leading strategies, programmes and policies to support the employment and development of ANZ’s 9,000 employees in New Zealand. Felicity has more than 25 years of experience in Human Resources and has worked in a number of senior roles at ANZ and provided HR support during the merger of ANZ and The National Bank.
ANZ people are at the heart of their growth strategy, particularly as they move into new and diverse markets. It is essential that the company has the best people in their business, who feel secure and satisfied in their roles and have the opportunity to develop as individuals.
Human resource’s aim is to create a working environment that is supportive of our employees - an environment based on our values. Integral to this are policies and programs which promote a culture of respect for their people.
One of the ANZ Human Resource Managers said:
“To achieve our goals, we know we need to nurture great people. That’s why we’ve made it our business to create an organisation where people want to work and are supported to deliver their best.”
Therefore, the main purpose for ANZ Bank is to provide quality and good service so they need skilled and specialised employees, in addition those workers who provide service and directly communicate with customers have to be friendly and warm people. In addition
