2. Займенники ( особові, присвійні, вказівні, зворотні, безособові)

Особові займенники у англійській мові мають два відмінки: називний відмінок (the Nominative Case)—I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they і об'єктний відмінок (the Objective Case) — me, you, him, her, it, us, you, them. Займенник I-ї завжди пишеться з великої букви.Shall I translate the sentence?

Займенник 2-ї особи має тільки одну форму — you для однини і множини в називному і об'єктному відмінку.What do you mean? (називн. відм. однини) I think you are both wrong (називн. відм. множини).

Присвійні займенники вказують на належність предмета особі. Вони мають 2 форми: прилягаючу (conjoint) і абсолютну (absolute), які відрізняються одна від одної своїм синтаксичним вживанням. Присвійні займенники в англійській мові на відміну від присвійних займенників в українській мові не відмінюються (порівняйте: my sister — моя сестра; mу sister's friend — подруга моєї сестри).Прилягаюча форма присвійного займенника може бути означенням і до герундія. У цьому випадку вона утворює з герундієм синтаксичний комплекс.Excuse my interrupting you. (Пробачте, що я пере бив вас.)В англійській мові присвійні займенники вживаються частіше, ніж в українській, особливо перед назвами частин тіла, одягу та інших предметів (або занять), Присвійні займенники в абсолютній формі є займенниками-іменниками. ЗВОРОТНІ.

В англійською мовою зворотні займенники утворюються шляхом додавання до присвійним займенників my, our, your, особистим займенників him, her, it, them і невизначеному займенників one закінчення-self (в однині) і-selves (у множині). Приклади:

3-є особа од. числа himself він сам

В англійській мові є такі вказівні займенники: this — these (цей — ці); that — those (той — ті); such (такий); (the) same (той самий).Займенники this і that мають форми множини — відповідно these і those — і узгоджуються у числі з іменниками, до яких вони відносяться:this chair —these chairs

that house — those houses

Займенник this (these) вживається, коли вказується на предмети (особи), що перебувають поблизу людини, яка говорить, а займенник that (those) — коли вказується на предмети (особи), більш віддалені від неї.Англійське that (those) вживається частіше, ніж українське той, І може відповідати українському займеннику це.What's that? — Що це таке?Is that correct? — Це вірно?Who did that? — Хто це зробив?Who's that? — Хто це?That's right. — Правильно.

2.В англійській мові є особливі форми для вираження дій, які є майбутнім з точки зору минулого. Вони називаються формами “the Future in the Past” і утворюються за допомогою допоміжних дієслів “should” і “would” з відповідним інфінітивом (без to):

Всі три форми “майбутнього в минулому” вживаються в тих же значеннях, як і звичайні форми майбутнього часу, з тією тільки різницею що дія в цьому випадку є майбутнім не з моменту мови в поточний момент, а з якогось моменту в минулому. Граматичне значення англійських дієслів у формах “майбутнє в минулому” в українській мові передається дієсловами у майбутньому часі:

We knew that we should manage somehow.Ми знали, що якось справимося.

I expected we should be having coffee after dinner as usual.Я вважав, що ми, як завжди, будемо пити каву після обіду.

The Future in the Past Tense вживається для вираження майбутніх дій, про які йшла мова в минулому часі.

My Appearance.

Modern youth does not pay much attention to its own inner world, its character, and behavior. Unfortunately nowadays it becomes better to be good-looking, fashionable and rich at last, than to be kind, honest, generous etc.

I don't like to discuss myself: either my character or my appearance. I am sure that nobody's perfect and I am not perfect as well. As many young people I, of course, pay much attention to people's appearance, realizing in the same time that it is wrong. But I can do nothing with myself.

And now I will try to describe you my appearance, it will be difficult for me a little bit. Because I can't say exactly: I am pretty or not? Only other people can say this. But however I'll try to do it.

First of all I want to tell you about my height and build. I am medium height – 162 cm. But I would really like to be taller. And my mother says that it is not very good to be tall because it is more difficult to find a boy-friend for tall girls. Maybe it is really so. Secondly I've got medium build. I'm not slim but I always dreamt about this. My younger brother says that I am overweight. Of course I feel insulted a little bit but in summer it is really so. When I'm in the village I just can't refuse delicious dishes my granny prepared.

I have a round face, straight nose, big brown eyes and small lips. My hair is short because last week I was in the hairdressing saloon where I've got a new hair-do. Generally I like it. My nature color of hair is light brown. But a few days ago I dyed my hair and now it is dark-brown with a cherry shade. My grandfather does not like either my hair-do or the color of my hair but I don't care. My hair is straight and thick, but when I was a little girl I had curly hair. I like to be different and occasionally to change something in my appearance.

I am often told that I look like my granny. But it seems to me that I look like my mum a bit.

Generally I can't say that I am beautiful but I also don't consider that I am ugly. Maybe I am pretty for somebody and plain, ordinary for others.

Everyone thinks in his own way.

Perhaps that's all I can tell you about myself. It was difficult and uninteresting for me. But now you have some notion about me.
