6) “Arab Spring”. The us attitude to this problem (events in Egypt, Syria, etc.)

The Arab Spring is the media term for a revolutionary wave of nonviolent and violent demonstrations, violent and nonviolent protests, riots, and civil wars in the Arab world that began on 18 December 2010. The Arab spring is widely believed to have been instigated by dissatisfaction with the rule of local governments, though some have speculated that wide gaps in income levels may have had a hand as well.Numerous factors have led to the protests, including issues such as dictatorship or absolute monarchy, human rights violations, political corruption ,economic decline, unemployment, extreme poverty, and a number of demographic structural factors, such as a large percentage of educated but dissatisfied youth within the population. To date, rulers have been forced from power in TunisiaLibya, and Yemen(result- government overthrown in all 3 countries),  Egypt (result- Government overthrown, protests ongoing) ; civil uprisings have erupted in Bahrain and Syria; major protests have broken out in Algeria, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Morocco, and Sudan; minor protests have occurred in Mauritania, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, and Western Sahara; there were border clashes in Israel in May 2011.

The protests have shared techniques of mostly civil resistance in sustained campaigns involving strikes, demonstrations, marches, and rallies, as well as the effective use of social media to organize, communicate, and raise awareness in the face of state attempts at repression and Internet censorship. Many Arab Spring demonstrations have been met with violent responses from authorities, as well as from pro-government militias and counter-demonstrators. These attacks have been answered with violence from protestors in some cases. A major slogan of the demonstrators in the Arab world has been Ash-shab yurid isqat an-nizam ("the people want to bring down the regime").

The geopolitical implications of the protests have drawn global attention, including the suggestion that some protesters may be nominated for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize. Influx of social media usage indicates the kind of people that were essentially powering the Arab Spring. Young people fueled the revolts of the various Arab countries by using the new generation's abilities of social networking to release the word of uprising to not only other Arab nations, but nations all over the world. Different sorts of media such as image and video were also used to portray the information. Images surfaced that showed current events, which illustrated what was going on within the Arabian nations. The visual media that spread throughout the Internet depicted not only singular moments, but showed the Arabian nations history, and the change that was to come.

Most European and American observers have an awakening of anger and to the desire for change by the Arab masses, but also have the lack of understanding of the circumstances. Others  think that “spring” is the beginning of a good period.

Overall, an election of an extremist Islamic regime is not a victory for democracy, even if a real majority voted for it. It is usually the first and last free election in such a country, just as in Fascist or Communist regimes, which are sometimes elected democratically and perpetuate their totalitarian regime thereafter without regard to any democratic principles or human rights.

The Obama government gave a significant boost to Hizbullah during its first months in office, by returning its ambassador to Syria in the midst of a tense election campaign in Lebanon. The U.S. did not utter a word in support of the serious anti-government street demonstrations in non-Arab Iran. The U.S. was active in removing Mubarak in Egypt, sending a shattering message to all its other Arab allies in the region. It reprimanded the pro-American King of Bahrain, host to the main American naval base in the Gulf, who was fighting against Iranian sponsored agitation of his Shiite citizens. The Obama administration helped to destroy the ruthless Ghadafi, a man who only a few years earlier was elected as the chair of the United Nations Human Rights Commission, and was a “born again” friend of America and the West. On the other hand America did not lift a finger against the murderous Assad.. The complete American departure from Iraq is a clear invitation to Iran to swallow this Shiite-dominated country, and the Turkish-Iranian coalition seems to be making preparations for marching into the oil rich Kurdish north of Iraq, with not one visible step taken by America or Europe to prevent such a dangerous move.

Does the Obama government not understand what is happening in the region, or does it understand and support it cheerfully? Both possibilities are mind boggling, and both endanger the entire free world. It is indeed impossible to believe either of these two hypotheses, but it is even more difficult to present a third alternative theory for the American view of evolving events.
