Cheese and desserts.

There are three main types of cheese in Europe. The first of these is the hard type. For example, in the north of Europe there is Cheddar from Britain, and Gouda from the Netherlands. Further south you can find Gruyere and Emmenthal in Switzerland, and Manchego in Spain. And in Italy there`s a cheese which is harder than all the others, Parmesan.

The next group is soft cheese. Camembert and Brie are two famous French soft cheeses while Mozzarella and Mascarpone are the best known Italian soft cheeses. Many countries also have blue cheese. In Britain there`s Stilton, and in Denmark there`s Danish Blue, while in France there`s Roquefort, a soft, creamy blue cheese, and in Italy there`s Dolcelatte, which is also soft and cremy.

Many desserts are prepared with fruits and berries, for example, baked apples with vanilla sauce, fresh fruit assorted, berries with whipped cream.

Beverages

There is usually a wide choice of beverages in the wine list of every restaurant or bar. A barman or a wine waiter offers the wine list where the guests can find any drink they like. For people who don`t drink alcohol there are soft or long drinks such as juice, lemonade, Coke, mineral water – still or fizzy. Beer is very popular and it can be served bottled, draught or canned. For customers who want something stronger there is a great variety of alcoholic or short drinks. For example, spirits: rum, vodka, whisky, brandy, cognac. Then come fortified wines: liqueur, port, sherry, vermouth; and table wines dry or sweet, white, red or rose. Guests can also order a cup of tea; coffee, black or white, hot chocolate. The visitors can also order cocktails: aperitifs, digestives and original.

Aperitif cocktails are served before the meal. These cocktails improve the appetite. The digestives are served after the meal and help to digest our food.
