Contribution of Ukrainian doctors in the world medicine

In the eighteenth in European medicine was known a number of names of Ukrainian doctors. While famous wrestler from epidemics of plague was Daniel Zisels Samoilovich (1744-1805). He was born in Chernihiv in the family priest, graduated from the Kyiv Mohyla Academy, hospital school in St. Petersburg. He worked in Moscow epidemiologist. Daniel K.Zabolotny (1866-1929) – a prominent microbiologist and epidemiologist.

Stephen Khomich Hotovitsky (1796-1885) – a prominent obstetrician and pediatrician. He graduated from the Medical-Surgeon Academy in St. Petersburg (1817).

In Poltava was born into a noble family Nikolai Sklifosovsky (1836-1904) – a prominent surgeon of this time. He graduated from Moscow University (1859), worked in Odessa, Kharkiv Professor of Surgery University of Kiev (1871-1880). Later he worked in Moscow and St. Petersburg. One of the pioneers of abdominal surgery, implemented asepsis and antisepsis, began to operate on the thyroid gland (1874), stomach (1879), zhovchevomu bladder (1890).

Vladimir Petrovich Filatov (1875-1956) – a prominent ophthalmologist, professor at Odessa University, director of the Odessa Institute of Experimental Ophthalmology (1911-1956), came from Russia. Created new methods of reconstructive surgery, proposed an original method of skin round plastic skin steam (stem Filatov), developed the problem cornea transplantation (1927), created special tools.
