Hippocrates and his oath

    Hippocrates lived between 459 and 377 years BC. His father was a doctor Heraclitus, descended from an ancient family of Asclepius, mother - midwife Fenareta. Traditionally family Hippocrates studied medicine since childhood.    In adulthood, as usual, those times have traveled. In Greek cities he visited the cities of Asia Minor, in some cities on the Black Sea.    Hippocrates did autopsy of animals for scientific purposes sought in the natural environment means treating diseases not relying on the gods. "Health asked the gods in their prayers the people, and not know that they themselves have the means for it" - he taught.    Before our time preserved collection of medical works, known as the "Corpus Hippocraticum" ("Hippocratic Code"). The "Code of Hippocrates' covers a variety of issues: the question of anatomy and embryology, responsibilities doctor 15 books devoted to internal medicine, 8 - surgery, 9 - women's diseases. The human body, according to Hippocrates, includes four basis juices: blood, phlegm, black and yellow bile. Advantage in the body of a juice causes, human temperament.    Hippocrates be a great historical merit: he collected and systematized, has added his vast experience, the medical knowledge at the time it may have been passed on from generation to generation only to legend.    Accordingly, Hippocrates distinguished four temperaments: sanguine (predominant blood), phlegmatic (phlegm - mucus), choleric (yellow bile), melancholically (black bile).    Hippocrates his work showed how the study of a sick person, her study plan, the task of diagnosis, prognosis and treatment.    Here the so-called "Hippocratic Oath." Its content provides insight on how to understand at the time the doctor on duty patients and their colleagues.    Teachings of Hippocrates played a major positive role in the further development of medicine.
