Grammar. The Structure of the English Sentence.

Task I. Определите способы выражения подлежащего и сказуемого в следующих предложениях:

1. There is a railway road connecting these two towns. 2. It is autumn. 3. He was late for the train. 4. It has been raining for 2 days. 5. He began to prepare for exams. 6. She stopped crying and looked at me hopefully. 7. He is considered to be a clever man. 8. His work is interesting and important. 9. Jack has to take a taxi.

Task II. Определите безличные предложения из числа приведенных ниже.

1. It's a pleasure to walk to the forest on such a day. 2. It is my pen. 3. It is difficult to study French. 4. It was Mendeleev who discovered the Periodic Law of Elements. 5. It is important not to miss classes. 6. Is it hot in summer?

Task III. Преобразуйте предложения, употребив конструкцию there is/are.

Task V. Образуйте разделительные вопросы от следующих утверждений.

Task VII. Поставьте альтернативные вопросы к следующим предложениям, используя слова, данные в скобках.
