Universal Mixers. Mixers of this type consist of half drum in which there are two revolving blades specially designed to rotate as near to the interior wall of the drum as possible. The blades are geared to run at different speeds and are of different lengths and bends, so that they carry the dough backward and forward and from end to end of the machine.

Advantages of machine mixing.

1. A much better and more evenly mixed dough which has been properly "cleared", is obtained.

2. Great labour - saving is effected.

3. Where a large number of doughs have to be made is a great saving in time. This is not always so important where only a few doughs have to be made.

4. More thorough hydration of the gluten results, and the quantity of dough produced is increased, since more water can be used.

5. Better texture is obtained in the bread.

6. It is cleaner than hand - mixing especially with tight doughs.

Engine fails to start.

Ignition spark is objectionable

No fuel in carburetor.

Check the contact-breaker spring for fracture or fatigue failure.

Check ignition distri­butor for splash water and condensation water.

Check spark-plug electrode gap.

Check tight seat of all cables and of distribu­tor.

Loosen fuel-supply line to carburetor and check that fuel pump supplies sufficient fuel; otherwise, the trouble із to be found in the pump or in the fuel-supply li­ne. In this case, loosen the fuel-supply line com­pletely and blow through with hand air pump. Clean the fuel pump and especially wash the strainer with petrol.

If the pump supplies sufficient fuel, check the carburettor.

Engine fails to star.

Too much fuel in carburettor

Carburetor is "flooded."

Clean the carburettor with air blast (never a wire!).

Check and clean float, float needle and starter device.

When reassembling the carburettor, take care to ensure correct insertion of gaskets.

Dry the carburettor,

Engine stalls at low speed.

Air-fuel mixture too rich

Air-fuel mixture too lean.

Spark plugs fouled.

Contact breaker points misadjusted, soiled or pitted.

Water in fuel.

Check position of choke.

Check fuel level in float chamber.

Check exhaust pipe for clogging.

Check valve-tappet clearance.

Check ignition timing.

Check carburetor for clogging.

Check fuel-supply lines.

Clean spark plugs.

Check electrode gap.

Clean points by means of contact file.

Readjust contact breaker points.

Drain fuel and filter it.

Engine starts but stalls again or runs irregularly when idling.

Ignition timing incorrect.

Engine kicks back when starting.

Lack of fuel.

Slow-running nozzle soiled.

Time ignition according to the operating instructions.

Advanced ignition. Time ignition properly.

Clean supply lines or carburettor respectively.

Clean slow-running nozzle.
