  • Let's go to the concert of pop music! Are you free on Sunday?

  • Oh, yes, with pleasure. The famous groups are on, their tunes are so gay and easily caught!

  • Really why should we deprive us of joy we obviously get from this music?

  • That's settled. #5

  • 3 (121) січень 2006 p.

I wonder why do you constantly listen to one and the same genre of music? Aren't you sick and tired?

  • It can't be boring. Dance music includes jazz and pop music. And besides different groups are looking for new forms, rhythms and styles. It's always different.

  • Wfell maybe, but the words of some songs are absolutely senseless!

  • There're few of them. But in general they deal with the younger people's world, their hopes, dreams, disappointments and joys.

  • Oh, well, everybody has a right for his own opinion.

Te a c h e r. Thank you. You've done it well. Of course, nbbody would object to listen to a good song with good words. It's natural that we have our favorite singers too. So does Anna. You have the exercise in front of you with the following task. Read it, please.

Te a c h e r. As far as you have understood, you are to transfer underlined sentences in Reported Speech into Direct one. Is it clear? But first of all let's remember the rule of using the Sequence of Tenses.

Pupil. It's used when we have two conditions. The first one is that the Predicate in main clause must be in the Past Tense and the second one is that the subordinate clause must be that- clause. So we transfer tenses according to the scheme to one step backwards. So if we are to write the sentences into Direct Speech we must transfer tenses in that-clauses one step forwards and mind the other types of subordinate clauses where the Sequence of tenses isn't observed.

Te a c h e r. So go to the blackboard and write the sentences in Direct Speech.

Teacher. Oh yes, expensive tickets are the main problem that prevents you to attend the concerts of your favorite music and groups. So I suggest that you should make your imagination work. Your task is: looking at the pictures try to understand what music is associated with the picture, what feelings are provoked by it.
