I. Grammar Present Continuous (настоящее длительное)

Present Continuous употребляется для выражения действия происходящего в момент речи или намеченного на будущее (см. таб. 12).

I am writing a letter. She is speaking on the phone.

What are you talking about? We are going to the country for the weekend.

"To be going" + Infinitive

Выражает:

1) Намерение:

What are you going to do tomorrow? — Что ты собираешься делать завтра?

I am going to meet my Mends. — Я собираюсь встретиться с друзьями.

2) то, что непременно или неизбежно произойдет:

It is going to rain. — Будет дождь.

We are going to be late. —Мы опоздаем.

3) отнесенность действия или факт к будущему:

They are going to have a party on Saturday. — Они устраивают вечеринку в субботу.

Exercise 1. Use the correct form of the verbs (Present Indefinite)/Употребите правильную форму глагола (Present Indefinite).

1. Her brothers always tell the truth, she sometimes lies. (to lie).

Её братья всегда говорят правду, она иногда лжет.

2. They always gossip, she never does it. (to do)

Exercise 2. Answer the questions using the given words/ Ответьте на вопросы, употребляя данные слова.

1. What is Helen doing in the kitchen? (to cook)

Что Елена делает на кухне? She is cooking. Она готовит.

2. What are you doing in the shop? (to buy)

Что ты делаешь в магазине? I am buying. Я совершаю покупки.

3. What is she doing with the dress? (to try on)

Почему ты говоришь шепотом? Because she is sleeping. Потому что она спит.

8. Why is Peter playing the piano so late? (to rehearse)

Почему Петр играет на пианино так поздно? Because he is rehearsing. Потому что он репетирует.

9. What was Bill doing here? (to look for)

Что Билл делает здесь? He is looking for picture. Он осматривает картину.

10. What were you speaking about when I came? (to discuss)

Что вы говорили об этом, когда я пришел? We are discussing. Мы обсуждали.

Exercise 3. Use Present Indefinite or Present Continuous/ Употребите глаголы в Present Indefinite или Present Continuous.

1. The man who speaking (Pr. Cont.) (to speak) with my mother is (to be) din neighbor who lives (Pr. Ind.) (to live) across the street.

??? Ваще не понятно, как переводить. Человек, который говорит с моей мамой − шумный сосед, который живет на другой стороне улицы.

2. It is (to be) a very interesting scientific film. In it you can see how the plants is growing (Pr. Cont.) (to grow) right before your eyes.

Это очень интересный научный фильм. В нем вы можете увидеть, как растения растут прямо ваших глазах.

3. Where you are hurrying (Pr. Cont.) (to hurry)? — I am hurrying (Pr. Cont.) (to hurry) to the railway station. My sister is coming (Pr. Cont.) (to come) from Moscow.

Куда ты торопишься? − Я спешу на вокзал. Моя сестра приехала из Москвы.

4. You hear (используется Pr.Ind. потому что Pr. Cont. не употребляется с глаголами умственной активности: эмоционального состояния to hear, to see, to feel, to understand, to know, to love, etc.) (to hear) the speaker well? — Yes, I hear (to hear) him clearly. I am listening (Pr. Cont.) (to listen tо) very attentively, but still I do not understand (Pr. Ind.) (not to understand) the main point of his speech.

Ты хорошо слышишь говорящего? − Да, я слышу его четко. Я слушаю очень внимательно, но все же не понимаю суть его речи.

5. Don't come into this room, father is working (Pr. Cont.) (to work) there now.

Не идите в эту комнату, папа там сейчас работает.

6. Where are you going this Sunday? — This Sunday I shall go (будущее время Фьюч. Инд. I+Shall) (to go) to the country, but usually on Sundays I stay(Pr. Ind.) (to stay) at home.

Куда ты отправишься в это воскресенье? − В это воскресенье я пойду в деревню, но обычно по воскресеньям я остаюсь дома.

7. Where is John? He is playing (Pr. Cont.) (to play) football in the yard.
